7 family members arrived 5 ordered breakfast sandwiches. 2 of us got behind another family. By the time they ordered and I was up to order it was 10:03 and they stopped serving breakfast. Lunch didn't start until 11:00. Unbelievable. So rather than make 2 more sandwiches, they refunded the money for the other 5. I wouldn't waste time there again.

Located in downtown Creede, this 4-room inn has a storied guest list of Old West figures dating back to 1892 - some of which are rumored to still be wandering around as though they never left! With the many shops, restaurants and the famous repertory thea

We ate here today with another couple. The food was very good but the service was bad. We had been warned before going in, and sure enough, they were right. The food was good, very tasty, but the food service was extremely slow. In my opinion it is worth the wait, but some may not feel this way.

First, you need to have reservations, they stay pretty busy in July. The restaurant is on a deck, (inside or outside) on the banks of the Rio Grande river, across the river from a high cliff. They have a good variety including trout, salmon, excellent steaks and pork chops, as well as daily specials. We ate twice there last week when we were in town, and everything our group had was excellent. Entrees range from $28- $42 or so, this isn't cheap but it is a memorable and enjoyable experience we have looked forward to each year we are in Creede. The owners (Chuck and Patti) and the staff are friendly and attentive. We dress in what we call "Creede casual", meaning your clean hiking shorts and polo shirt.

The Tommyknocker Tavern was established in 1999 by a group of locals in the historic mining town of Creede, Colorado. Over the last thirteen years, it has grown to be a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, featuring great live music all summer and
Perhaps my friend and I ordered the wrong things here at Tommyknocker. We enjoyed the cozy, local atmosphere, although not being baseball fans, the volume on the TV set was somewhat overbearing.I had a salad of chopped avocado, canned black olives, chopped tomato, sliced pickled jalapeños and chopped red bell pepper. It came with salad dressing and 4 Ritz crackers. Perhaps it was the fact that everything in the salad was cut to approximately the same size, or that there were no herbs, seeds or any sort of seasonings, but the salad was bland. It was fresh, but for the olives and jalapeños, but boring. My companion had the nachos "loaded" with brisket. Tommyknockers is a BBQ place and so their meats should stand out. The dish consisted of cheese melted on paper in a plastic basket topped with a mound of corn chips out of a bag, then layers of jalapeños, banana peppers, olives, onions, tomatoes and briskest piled on top with a bit more cheese. There was a small container of sour cream on the side as well as very mild, store-bought salsa. My friend added all the sour cream and salsa and yet, the nachos didn't taste like anything and it was difficult to locate the chips. We added salt and pepper and squirted BBQ sauce on it and still, it was bland. The meat was especially flavorless and not especially tender. The "loaded" ingredients were piled on top and the most of the chips had nothing on them.Standout nachos usually are made of layers of chips with melted cheese and other ingredients on them. Had the ingredients been distributed through the dish, it might have been improved, but that salsa and the meat and the flimsy chips added up to disappointment.Word is that the sandwiches here are good so perhaps it would be better to order those.

We stopped here one morning last week for breakfast only to find out they recently stopped offering a hot breakfast. We were disappointed but having eaten here before, we knew their hamburgers are not to be missed. So, after several hours in Creede, we pulled into Freeman's about 1:30 for a late lunch. Very busy place! The hamburgers are worth waiting for. They are simply delicious with lots of grilled onions on top. Friendly people, too!!

We ate breakfast here several times last year, but this was our first time for dinner. Hubby had chicken-fried steak which he pronounced "perfect," not one bite of gristle. I had catfish with the best fried okra I've ever eaten .... and I've eaten a lot of fried okra. Perfectly breaded, fried just right and so-o-o tender! Five stars for sure!
