Colorado is home to no less than twenty-six ski resorts such as those in Vail and Breckenridge; other winter activities include snowboarding, sledding, sleigh rides, snow hiking and snowmobiling. The state is blessed with national parks, grasslands and forests where in warmer weather you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking or rock climbing. Wildlife abounds, from bears to moose and raccoons to wolverines. More interested in local history? Head for either the Ute Indian Museum or the Koshare Indian Museum, and don't miss the forts such as Fort Garland and Bent's Old Fort. For a complete change, why not take a ride in a hot air balloon from South Park Valley or Boulder and admire Colorado's picturesque landscape from above?

We enjoyed our stay at Balanced Rock Inn a week ago. They are pet friendly which was our primary reason for staying at Balanced Rock. The nicely refreshed small motel was perfect for us while on our way up to Yellowstone. Our room was clean, well furnished & perfect for the 2 of us with our dog. We were comfy in our king bed, loved how friendly staff & other guests were. This was a small motel stop on our road trip, the nicest place we stayed on our week-long trip & I'm a believer in staying at such family-owned, refurbished motels now. Our drive north from Fruita was beautiful & we hope to return so we can spend time in the area again.

The Nordic Inn is the longest operating lodge in the county. Only 500 yards from the lifts at the base of Mt Crested Butte, lies a slice of historic nostalgia from the early days of skiing in Colorado. Classic past meets present day with luxury accommodations and services of a contemporary boutique bed & breakfast hotel. The Nordic Team is known for hospitality, humour, and personal connection with guests. The Inn is beautifully renovated in keeping with the charm of the original hotel. Each morning begins in the warmth of the breakfast room with a wholesome continental breakfast to see you through the day’s adventure. Play hard, then head back to a roaring fire in the hotel's intimate lounge, where you can relax, enjoy music and a glass of fine wine, whilst taking in the amazing views of Mt Crested Butte. Rooms range from Signature King and Double Queen to our luxury Nordic Chalet. We allow dogs in certain rooms (call the hotel) for $30, per pet, per night. We would love to host you!
I went with my wife and our furry friend last October 2021. Sydney and Adam, the people running the hotel, were very kind, welcoming and professional. The lobby of the hotel has a very cozy atmosphere! We had a problem with our room but Sydney was very understanding and customer oriented in fixing the situation. Overall our stay there was pleasant! Thanks again to Sydney and Adam!

Adventure Hotel. More specifically... A historic hotel/hostel with a kitchen, deck, beer garden, movie theater/live music venue, and cozy wood stove. Recently rehabilitated and brought back to life with the stated purpose of providing a home base for the majestic San Juan Mountains. Travelers, adventurers, outdoor-enthusiasts, musicians, and artists will find themselves at home. Bring your pup as dogs are encouraged! A red-brick building set in the town center on the corner of 10th and Blair. Several restaurants, bars, and gift shops are within a couple blocks walk. It's a half-mile from Highway 550, 15 minutes from Silverton Mountain, and 30 minutes from Purgatory Resort. Amenities include free WiFi, free coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and daily housekeeping. One-of-a-kind style with mesmerizing ambiance and charm. There are 3 tiers of rooms: private rooms w/ private baths, private rooms w/ shared baths, and hostel-style bunks (shared rooms w/ shared baths). The shared baths are recently renovated and comfortable. There's a women's room and a men's room. They both have 2 private showers, 2 private toilets, and 2 sinks. At most, 5 rooms utilize the shared baths so crowding is rare. A unique and memorable experience in a unique and memorable town.
The experience was wonderful. Dan was able to get us an affordable room pretty late at night. We were given a tour of the historic hotel and it was a lot of fun. One could tell there was a lot of work done to the hotel and they have big plans for the future. Can't wait to return when more is completed. We appreciated it as a family.

We loved our stay at the Silver Lake Lodge Bed and Breakfast. Our room was great, the bed was comfortable and we had our own small deck. The whole inn was beautifully furnished and there was plenty of shared space to drink wine, play games and relax. The best part was the amazing breakfast which included a fruit parfait, eggs with organic spinach and crepes. I wish I could have finished it all.

Enjoy excellent breakfasts each morning and a happy hour each evening with Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies and other snacks. AAA Four-Diamond since 2003
I stayed in one of the rooms (as opposed to the lovely cottages) this past week. Hosts/owners were friendly, helpful and flexible. Grounds are lovely, breakfast was good -- myself and a local friend (they accommodated her for breakfast at a reasonable price) ate outside by the pond in early morning sunshine. Room was spacious and clean. Free brownies!

My boyfriend and I went for a weekend getaway. The house is located very close to downtown. We stayed in the Amati Suite on the second floor. The room has a bedroom and a living room, and the bathroom is located outside of the room but it is private. The couch and the bed were both very comfortable. The view of the mountains and the Trinidad sign are beautiful. The balcony is very cozy. We enjoyed the snacks because we aren’t very big breakfast eaters anyway. We will definitely stay again, the hosts were very nice and personable. The home itself is very pretty, it has a living room, dining room, and a library! I love the dark wood.

This is a well-renovated old motel and they did such a great job. Our room was exceptionally clean. It was more user-friendly than many hotels - there was a place to put your stuff in the bathroom, plenty of hooks, and the coffee/tea set-up was an electric kettle and pour-over instead of a wasteful keurig. The location was within easy walking distance to many restaurants.

Step back in time and relive the glory days of Colorado's col-or-ful past... At the St. Elmo Hotel in Ouray, Col-orado. Once bustling with gold and sil-ver seek-ers, Ouray today is a pic-turesque ham-let, sur-rounded by 14,000 foot peaks in the majes-tic San Juan moun-tains of south-west Col-orado. The St. Elmo Hotel is a lov-ingly restored, turn-of-the-century inn located in the heart of Ouray, Col-orado, a national his-toric dis-trict. Dec-o-rated with Vic-to-rian flair and full of period antiques, this 9-room Col-orado bed and break-fast inn delights guests with a wine & cheese social hour every after-noon in the cozy par-lor and a full buf-fet break-fast every morn-ing served in the sunny break-fast room. After spend-ing the day dis-cov-er-ing a new hik-ing trail or the fine shops in the area, a soak in the out-door hot tub is a great way to relax while sur-rounded by the beau-ti-ful San Juan mountains.
While our stay was only one night, the hotel was beautiful and the host was wonderful. We always enjoy staying in older hotels and learning the history behind them and the beautiful towns that they are in. Thank you so much, if we are ever through Ouray again, we will absolutely stay here again!!!
