We had lunch here once. Had shrimp tacos and shrimp imperial. Tacos were breaded and very bland. Needed a ton of sauce to bring out flavor. The shrimp imperial was OK but certainly nothing special for the price. We'll take a miss on this one.

Two couples had dinner here last night, what a great experience. We started with queso fundido, it was delicious and followed up with a grilled Argentine sausage which was equally tasty. We then decided to have two Vacio steaks, grilled medium rare, they were excellent, melt in your mouth delicious. We washed all of this down with a few magaritas and a couple beers. At restaurant is clean and inviting, staff were attentive, but not intrusive. We really enjoyed this restaurant.

Mexican/ seafood/ the locals eat there. It's a cross the street from the Barcelo Karmina Palace and north towards Santiago.
This is my favorite 'hole in the wall' restaurant to enjoy fresh fish or fresh shrimp. I was in town 4 days and visited here 3 times. Very reasonable in price and the service is outstanding. English speaking servers are not normally available, but they do have one English menu, and that is all you need to order and enjoy an excellent meal. I've been visiting this location for the past 4 years when I come to the coast to relax. Try any of the many shrimp appetizers and you will not be disappointed. My favorite meal is red snapper in garlic. I will return again, and again.

We stopped in to this restaurant as it is close by. The food and service are great. We enjoyed the chicken and pork schnitzels along with a couple of cervesa's. These dishes are as good as any we've enjoyed over the years elsewhere. The menu is diverse and very affordable. You can't beat the view of Manzanillo bay either. Definitely seaside dining. And yes their specialty is seafood.

Locals regard Taqueria Don Julio as the best eatery in town, and they've got good reason. This open-air restaurant serves up some of the tastiest tacos we've ever eaten, fast and hot from a comal where the cooks work non-stop. There isn't a bad choice on the menu, but those with adventurous palettes should go straight to the camaron chipotludo, savory spicy shrimp served on a bed of tender nopales (cactus leaves). Every order comes with a table-sized arsenal of condiments, spices and hot sauce. This is the kind of place you could eat every day and never grow bored. You certainly won't go away hungry.

Came here around 7pm or so and the place was pretty much empty. We found it interesting that the "busy" times were listed as late night. So... La Sonrisa is the late night, drunk food go-to in Manzanillo, then?We ordered some tacos and the helpful ladies distinguished the various types of meat and how they came cut (sliced, shredded, ground, chunks) to us. After we ordered, all the condiments came out and there were tons. The individual bowls of condiments looked decent but the large salsa caddy looked like it'd seen better days. Food came and we dressed our tacos. With all of the condiments, we got the tacos we'd been looking for. We were satisfied, but overall, I'd say La Sonrisa was an average food experience. Going back to the drunk food concept, I could see how La Sonrisa would rate higher with the nostalgia factor.

Just walking up the sidewalk to the front door, we were greeted professionally and asked where we would like to seat, outdoor on the patio or inside with A/C. Escorted to the table we were greeted by someone with menus and took our drink order. After ordering our food, out came chips, pico de gallo and complimentary bean soup. Good thing we decided to share a burger and fries cause we barely were able to finish. Great food with amazing service, attention to detail and very reasonable prices.

This place is not on the tourist route- probably wouldnât have found it without the gps. We went for lunch and were practically the only ones there. The restaurant is bright and cheery, very Mexican, has a pretty large menu. There were 5 of us so we had a variety. One person had tihe bacon wrapped, stuffed shrimp and it was a huge amount - likely should have ordered a half portion. They were delicious but very rich.Another person spoke to someone from the kichen as he wanted oysters- breaded. He got them and enjoyed them. My husband had shrimp quesadillas which were just average, I had the coconut shrimp plate with rice arranged in a flower pattern and coleslaw,my friend had the ceviche was was very nice. Our waitress spoke no English but brought someone out from the kichen when we tried to explain about the breaded oysters. He was friendly and enthusiastic. Before we left more people had filtered in- mostly Mexican folk. The people near us had huge bowls of broth with succulent shrimp in them - something I would order if I get the chance to return. This is an industrial area so large trucks noisily rumbled by but that sort of added to the experience. Would I go back? Probably, as that broth looked so good. There are so many restaurants to try- hard to try them all!
