Who would think to go to Colebrook NH for authentic French bread and pastries? I sure wouldn't have. Open mornings and afternoons, the earlier you go the better the selection. Fantastic fresh baked breads and pastries, madelines, and a selection of baking goods and imported foods. European chocolates abound. You can rack up a good bill though on some products, but the baked goods are reasonably priced and well worth it for the quality. If you see an almond croissant left, grab it, they are amazing. Owned and operated by a couple, and at my last visit they did not take credit cards so make sure you have cash.

Mrs. SailorBear loves the coffee here so...happy wife, happy life. The biggest drawback is the wait time to get served. Apparently, each customer gives their order and then it is prepared before the next order is taken. Obviously, if someone wants more than just a cup of coffee this can take some time. If you find yourself behind someone who wants a "coffee drink" and a sandwich, you'll be torn between wanting to sit down and losing your place in line. If there's a large group ahead of you, I would recommend heading north.
As to the food, the cinnamon rolls are good although a tad plain. I would not recommend the lemon squares (reminiscent of a yellow roofing shingle) or the blueberry danish (as flaky as shoe leather).

Expensive muffins, quality is ok but they don't notify you until you try to pay that they are cash only. Happily left a dozen muffins and a few breakfast sandwiches behind.

Black Bear Tavern At Rivers Edge offers full bar, dining room, Function room, Outdoor patio (summer Months) 9 unit motel accommodations
A group of 20 of us "Victory Motorcycle" riders headed to Colebrook for a nice ride through the mountains to a great place for lunch. We called ahead and our able was set when we arrived. The place was nice, had a bar and ample seating with an outside deck as well. It's Patriots country so the game was on!! The service was great, the food was pretty good and the prices were average. I would recommend this restaurant if you're in the area!! Enjoy.

Left Pittsburg before any place was open for breakfast.
We stopped here for gas and to grab a bite. The Dunkin Coffee is always good.
Ordered the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich with Sausage, Egg & Cheese. It was
very good, would get again. Staff was friendly and efficient, they worked together
as a team to get the orders out fast. The Red Apple Store that this is in has a Clean Bathroom, lots of grocery store items & has a Subway inside also! If your in a hurry it's a good place to get gas and grab a quick bite to eat.

While visiting Colebrook for a week, I had a bad dinner experience on my first night. There's not a whole lot of choices in the area and I ended up trying the house of pizza on my second night. Short review? I ate there for the rest of the week. The waitress staff was attentive, the specials tasted good and the food was reasonably priced. It also had a faithful following from the locals and I enjoyed overhearing their conversations. If you're in the Colebrook area, don't be turned off by the outside appearance of the restaurant. You'll get a decent meal at a reasonable price with service provided by nice staff. It's worth a try.

We stopped in here after talking to some locals and they highly recommended it to us.
By the looks out front you would never kn ow about the wonderful food and service inside.
Very quaint rustic interior with a real north woods flavor. Waitress was perfect, friendly and attentive, the prices are fair and the amount of food was not to be believed, we both had breakfast and it filled us for the day! Great experience.

A small DVD rental store that also does great pizzas, subs and ice creams.
Stopped here for lunch while travelling - small town, the premises is located on the main street. Great selection of subs and sandwiches, and also freshly made pizza, We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the value was second to none.
Charming friendly staff - would visit again if had the chance.

Reasonably priced average tasting Chinese food. Nothing spectacular but only Chinese option for forty plus miles. So of you have a craving it serves the purpose.
