Explore, discover and enjoy a unique taste of rural Africa! Coffee Shack is a backpackers' tropical paradise, located on the beach at the Bomvu River mouth on the Wild Coast of South Africa, where you will experience a way of life far removed from Western culture. We have a reputation of being a fun, good-value hostel with excellent facilities and the most amazing, friendly staff. We offer accommodation in traditional, thatched-roof huts, ranging from private rooms to dorms, as well as camping facilities in the garden next to the beach. Choose between self-catering options or try our delicious meals with a free 'potjie' meal every Sunday night. Weather and ocean permitting, join us for daily sundowners with magnificent views or taste freshly caught oysters and mussels at the bar before dinner. Stay for five nights and get your 5th night free! Our 'Babalaza Bar' is fully licensed and rocks in the evenings with its free pool table and range of drinks and cocktails. Join in the Killer Pool game or enjoy the chilled-out atmosphere around the firepit. Our variety of day trips include cultural walks exploring the local Xhosa culture, a traditional evening of dance and song at the home of a local family where you can try traditional Xhosa food and beers, beach days on the beautiful Coffee Bay, surf lessons, exploring Mapuzi cliffs and caves, hiking to the legendary "Hole in the Wall" or just walking in the local countryside with one of the local guides. We are accredited by Fair Trade Tourism South Africa and are committed to the improvement and upliftment of the greater community through various education and support projects. We are dedicated to making a difference to the local community and are thus 30% owned by the local Tshezi Community, who receive direct financial benefits from being involved in the business. We aim to encourage growth and empowerment opportunities for the local community through the development of meaningful partnerships. Coffee Shack runs a daily shuttle to Mthatha to meet the Baz Bus and other mainline buses at the Shell Ultra City in Mthatha (Umtata). We have free WIFI, safe parking and a laundry service. For self-drive, we are located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, in the former Transkei area. Turn onto the Coffee Bay road approximately 20km south of Mthatha, continue 80km down to the coast.
I love it there. Everyone was very friendly and the surf lessons were really good. Even on rainy days where there isn't much to do the staff tries to find some activities to do with the guests. The food was also good & affordable. I liked that they had vegan/vegetarian options.

The incredibly beautiful and unspoiled Transkei Coast is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most popular destinations, both among local and international visitors. But where to find a place that will add to your fond memories of your holiday here, rather than detract from it? Look no further than Sugarloaf Backpackers Lodge
We had the most pleasant experience at Sugarloaf backpackers. Kingsley offered the whole backpackers for us at a very decent price and gave us the best hospitality. I can definitely recommend this to anyone. The place is super clean and has great staff and service. By far my best backpacker experience yet!!!

We loved staying at Geckos with superb hosts, a beautiful garden and delicious breakfast. We also received good tips about where to go. The location was convenient too. Would definitely stay here again!

This must be the worst resort we have stayed at. Staff not willing to help. Manager not really interested. We left 5 days before our check out date due to staff not willing to make it comfortable for us. Not recommended considering the money we paid to be there. Shocking!

On arrival we were barely greeted, but the full payment was demanded immediately. My wife found the room unclean with hair on the bedside table and had to clean the toilet. With no visible security, we did not sleep very well as half the windows did not have any burger bars. We also had to lock the sliding door, so the room was hot all night.

Coram Deo Lodge is close to the beach (100 metres) and situated high on a hill with views over Coffee Bay and the beaches. Friendly comfortable and clean accommodation. Coram Deo is also the home of Coffee Bay Coffee with the roastery on site.
During the first week of November, we had the most amazing stay at Coram Deo! We stayed in the self catering unit and had everything we needed and so much more. The service was super amazing from Michelle and Neil and the host Richard. Whatever we needed, we were helped with without question or hesitation. Richard made us feel so welcome and safe and we really loved him playing the drums for us! What a special treat. I was so sad to leave this gem behind and come back home, the hospitality and friendliness made me feel so at home. And I really miss all the beautiful doggies too lol! Thank you to these wonderful people for giving us such a wonderful week, you are all appreciated! If you are looking to buy fresh fish, the staff will help arrange that for you with the local fishermen. Even if you are looking for a guide, Prince is a great guide with a ton of knowledge about the area. We also did kayaking with Mzo and his crew, what a great guy! All contact info you can get from the staff. Safe and clean location with good security and amazing service, definitely comes highly recommended! Amazing views of the bay.

Close to all local amenities and excellent hiking trails. +-8kms from Hole in the Wall. Licensed Restaurant and Bar with Room Service. Units are serviced daily. Perfect for fishermen, families and travellers alike.
Awful, just awful. I cannot recommend Nenga and am relieved to be leaving. I regret this booking and am bitterly disappointed with everything. The area is dirty and un maintained and this extends into the park.

We were on a bike trip from Cape Town. We were 6 guys. On arrival, we had to wait a long while for the key to arrive to unlock the house. Before hand we organised towels, but did not receive any. The fridge was off, so we could not cool off any food or drinks. The view was unbelievable.

After a long 9hour journey the host cancels my booking last minute, due to her double booking the venue then rebooks us into sea shells across the road which is a cespool of filth and a complete down grade from what I had initially booked. I've never had experienced such bad service and unscrupulous behavior. I would not recommend this accommodation.
