Reviews on Pub food in Malindi, Coast Province, Kenya. Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama stopped at Malindi on his way to India in 1498 and erected a pillar that remains overlooking the harbor, however precariously, to this day. Still popular with Europeans, Malindi is famed for coral reefs that lie just 1,000 feet off its shore, best seen at Malindi National Marine Park or nearby Watamu. Game fishing, surfing and simply relaxing on the beach are popular local pastimes. The narrow streets and market of Malindi's old town are worth a visit.

Went on Friday night BBQ. The menu pricing was a little confusing, with courses being priced separately, eg starter, main and dessert. To my mind a buffet style BBQ should be an all inclusive price irrespective of the type of meat you choose. The cost is transparent and there is no confusion regarding the pricing structure. Having said that the chicken was good as were the prawns. Live music played. The dining area, by the pool is exposed to the wind.

Bar Bar got a full make-over, looking much cleaner, hipper with attentive and good service. Their own bakery produces some of the finest bread in Malindi, their coffees are top knotch and the pizza didn't disappoint. Should definitely rank among the top 5 in Malindi. Friendly management too.

The sea fishing club is my first choice to relax after the shopping is done. Arriving at the club there are plenty of parking place, and you are always greeted with a friendly hello. If you are not a regular member you can get your day membership for the the price of a bottle of beer.Sitting at the table surrounded with trophies of the brave fishermen, hearing the waves, feel the sea breeze, and hardly anything else. What more can you desire? If you want something to eat you can order from "I love pizza" across the street, and their waiter will come down with your fish and chips, seafood platter or what else you want.Highly recommended. I myself visit almost every day when around in Malindi.

This bar/restaurant used to be one of the best in Malindi. However just lately it has become one of the worst. The drinks prices are way above competition, the food is poor quality and the service takes forever, so if you are in a hurry don,t choose to eat here.

The "Matoke special" and "Githeri Special" are very nice and satisfying. If u want a taste of local upcountry food then this is the place to go.
