Reviews on Italian food in Watamu, Coast Province, Kenya. The delightful village of Watamu is an eco-tourist’s dream, lined with sandy white beaches and hotels dedicated to sustainable tourism. Watamu is a quick snorkel away from the Malindi Marine Reserve Park, and Turtle Beach is the ideal spot for a swim and a tanning session. The village proper features quaint Kenyan shopping stalls called dukas, where you can stock up with supplies. Make sure to visit the Gede Ruins, a mysterious and heavily overgrown 12th century Swahili village, and the beautifully fluttery Kipepeo Butterfly Project.

We spent a whole day at the restaurant. They have excellent customer service. From the moment we got in, the staff were really friendly and ready to help us out in any way possible. The food was delicious; we ate fried octopus with fries and had mojitos and a bottle of wine. Overall, Luwa is a great place to unwind with friends and family.Thank you so much

Watamu beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world and crystal beach holds a new gem.of a restaurant called TamuLovely decor and situates overlooking the Clea blue waters, the owner, staff and highly rated chef welcomed us warmly. A tasting plate of carpaccios was prepared for us as I couldn't make up my mind. They were all delicious and so.beautifully presented. We followed with two different kinds of homemade ravioli -one cheesy Italian style & the next a Japanese fish and ginger delight. A must visit. Thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate and we are happy to know that everything was so good, it was a pleasure to be part of your special day ;-) Hope to see you again.

We have been in âSotto Sopraâ and the adjacent âLa Casa di Ireneâ almost every late afternoon during our staying in Watamu. Excellent Apero Spritz, Capirinha, Mojito and all other we tried served with local chips, olives, soppressata bruschetta and other finger food. There are similar places around there, but sotto sopra gave us confidence to have chosen the best.Take your time to visit la Casa di Irene where you can find lots of high quality gifts at reasonable prices.

The restaurant is located on the Watamu Beach Road, the main street of Watamu, looks like a typical African restaurant, with dishes, Italian and African, fresh cooked at the time (using pre-cooked pasta), we also have a bell 'assortment of pizzas to suit
Avoid this place as eating here is very likely to result in a severely upset stomach. The fried budgie was a disgrace at rip off prices. My pizza was inedible and was abandoned after the first slice. My friend is still on antibiotics after eating the so called chicken.

This restaurant was wonderful, nice and romantic ambience and the food was incredible, we loved the pasta filled with pumpkin with nuts (forgot the name) it was one of the best dishes we have had during our stay in Kenya. Weâll come back definitely.

This place looks a little unassuming at first, but from the first bite of food to the last we were not disappointed. First they brought a nice size piece of focaccia for a biting whine we waited for our appetizer of smoked cheese and Parma ham, which was heavenly. Both my friend and I ordered pasta, I had the richly delicious carbonara and my friend the gricia. Neither of us left a bite on our plate despite both of us being stuffed half way through. The only disappointment was we had no room for gelato! I plan to make this place a regular when I visit Watamu.

I decided to have a cocktail on a Fri evening. Beautiful serene ambience providing efficient service by friendly staff. Whilst sipping a cocktail, I was served with fresh hot focaccia. Yummy... for mainI had a gnocchi formaggi - absolutely divine. The fresh creamy gnocchi just melted away in my mouth. I surely will come back for another evening out for cocktails & dinner! A must visit. Cheers Mario!

The location and view is to die for. The setting is great with tables right out at the beach (though one of the diners chairs sank into the sand and the diner fell). The food, especially the sea food, is really very good though the prawns should have been veined. It is a pity that all these positives are spoilt by the fact that the service is extremely horrible discriminatory. We are Kenyans, though of Indian origin. We ordered our meal, and pointed out that our table did not have sauces, seasonings and oil and vineager which we would need. These were promptly brought but no sooner a waitress came and took them away and put them on a table occupied by a caucasian family. We were amazing and found it shocking that a restaurant of that calibre should have only one set of sauces to share between all tables. The food came, got cold but there was no waiter in sight to bring back the bottles. I went looking for one and found the waitress who had taken them away and demanded the bottles back to which she flatly refused claiming that they were being used by other diners. I lost my temper and started to make a lot of noise upon which she came very angrily, picked the bottles and banged then down on our table at the same time telling me off that I was making a big deal over nothing!! At the end of the meal, when the bill came, I had been overcharged by two extra dishes that I had not ordered!!. I complained to Roberto (the owner) about the quality of service and he just laughed it off saying "we are in Kenya you know". I still fail to understand what he meant by that. And ideas??

Situated at Mida Creek, not far from Dabaso village, the restaurant is a discreet, low impact wooden construction standing at the edge of the mangrove forest with panoramic views of the Creek. Please book 24 hrs in advance. Access to the restaurant is via
This is an experience! Take a long dirt road to get there. Walk on the boardwalk amongst the mangroves to the dinning area, huge spiders right before the dinning area, canoes paddling thru the water next to the elevated dinning area, and then an explosive sunset. The crab, lobster, crab samosa, and veggie curry are excellent. I was surprised to see so many people only there for the sunset, made us a bit nervous, but definitely worth sticking around for dinner.fantastic comment, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed a lot..thanks a gain for rating us five star ..hope to see you next time
