You'll find rugged beauty and a slow pace in the Cinque Terre. Named for the five towns of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, this portion of the Italian Riviera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cars aren't allowed, so take local trains or ferries to go from town to town—or walk one of the spectacular trails that connect them.

The view from the Santuario is beautiful - great location overlooking the sea. It is a religious place dedicated to the apparition of Our Lady on the hill of Arcola, where the sanctuary is located. Very beautiful and well kept. Especially under the altar is the chapel dedicated to the apparition of the Madonna, rich in marble and friezes. When checking in, the reception was not very friendly and in general the staff was not very friendly and helpful either. The rooms are very spartanly furnished. However, I would not interpret it as a negative, as it is a former monastery. You find peace in the silence of the old walls. You definitely get that pilgrim feeling here! There is no toilet in the room. The bathroom is very small and there were no hooks or shelves (and no hairdryer - but pilgrims don't count on that). We only stayed there to sleep and for breakfast. The breakfast was poor and prepared and served on the back burner.... The restaurant was open, but we enjoyed our dinner at "Il Ciliegio", a beautiful restaurant above Monterosso. Soviore can also be easily reached on foot from Monterosso or Vernazza (with a bit of fitness and equipped with hiking boots). The Santuario is in a very good location and there is free parking. A quote from the Buddha says: "Those who are free from the thoughts of thoughts will surely find peace. That is,, after all, the reason why you stay at this place. The price for the simple accommodation is too high, not reasonable and more expensive than our 3*** accommodation in Florence.

Read the previous review about luggage - it's true!! I wish we had done our homework on that. We were the fools trying to haul our luggage on the shuttle bus and up the stairs. You can store your luggage at the La Spezia train station (as well as others), and just take a small bag for your stay in Corniglia. We stayed in #28, which is actually a 2 bedroom apartment, but we just used one of the bedrooms for the 2 of us. It was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom is small, but it was fine. We did make sure to plan our schedule to arrive during check-in time, and Cristina was here to meet us at our door. The views here are breathtaking! Our private balcony overlooked the sea. We would definitely return here (without the luggage)!

We recently stayed here for a few night. The room was a good size. To say it had a sea view would be a gross exaggeration but that didn’t bother us as we kept the shutters closed due to the heat. It is in a great location, not quite on the front. The problems we encountered were the level of noise, you could hear everything from the street and your neighbours. The shower took ages to get warm in the morning - over 5 minutes with it running and it was still Lukewarm. The breakfast was mediocre but adequate. However, the way they sort their tea needs to be changed - having the tea laid out on the tables meant that I had to hunt around the tables each morning for the few black tea sachets. They should put all the tea next to the hot water dispenser. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. A real credit to the owners.
