Visiting a German pub in China was not on my main travel agenda, but after the journey a cold beer sounded good! The music was excellent, I could actually have a conversation with an old friend and enjoyed the traditional warm Apple Pie with ice-cream that was a delight! After the hot and spicy food, the beer was an ideal after drink!

A few of my colleagues were fretting for some western food and so we headed for the Blue Frog for hamburgers and a beer or two. Waited 15 minutes for the beers - in fact the burgers came out before the beer. it's local draught beer and acceptable for China. The burgers were so-so. Fried onion rings looked like donuts but the meat of good. Overall just an average burger bar for when you really need some western food but I'm sure there's better.

This is a national chain of restaurants. When I say restaurants, these are a bit different, it is more like a food court because inside are maybe more than a dozen mini kitchens all providing freshly prepared food in a variety of styles. As you enter you buy a food card (the amount depends entirely on you) that is valid for all the outlets. If you don't spend all the credit you can either keep it for next time (and there probably will be one) or cash it in on the way out. The food is fresh and varied, anything from grilled fish to Shanghai style fried dumplings. If you don't know what style of food you want, come here and experiment. It won't break the bank and it is quite fun too.
