Find out what Soups restaurants to try in Punta Arenas. Overlooking the Strait of Magellan, this isolated city in southern Patagonia bustles with windswept trekkers en route to glacier-filled Torres del Paine National Park or an Antarctic cruise. Before transiting, take note of the mansion-lined main square, Plaza Muñoz Gamero; the City Cemetery, with its elaborate tombs; and the Sara Braun Palace and Braun Menendez Residence, a preserved slice of the city's wealthy pioneer past. Daily flights connect the city with Santiago and Ushuaia.

This was the best meal we had in Punta Arenas. Friendly, efficient service, excellent steak, good wine. The food was creative, and the atmosphere casual and pleasant. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is in need of a refreshment to walls and furnishing. Tablecloth was dirty, service was not exactly enthusiastic. And food was sub-optimal (maybe one shouldn't pick pasta and risotto when in Punta Arenas.... still, one could expect the grated cheese not to be old and rancid). Wouldn't recommend unless you are really hungry.

As we came back to town from a morning excursion, we came into have a late breakfast or early lunch.(12:15) They limited the menu to ONLY pizzas. We asked if we could have crepes or sandwiches that were offered on the menu but they insisted only on pizza. We ordered the pizza, the first one was good, the second one that had come out was burnt and difficult to eat, and the third one was alright. In addition to the pizza we had ordered coffee, when we looked over they had a fairly nice espresso machine, but instead used a smaller machine with pre-filled capsules of some sort. The coffee was not good, and not made to the order we specified. Wish we had good experience like other reviews, but the service had been the biggest issue. I would recommend looking elsewhere in town.

There are several restaurants within the El Mercadito (2nd & 3rd floors) to choose. We ate at the Cocineria for lunch, and had three delicious empanadas (shrimp, crab, scallops). Menu offers a wide selection of food, all at reasonable prices. Service was friendly, quick, and English spoken. Short walking distance from where the cruise ships dock. Hope this helps for your next visit.
