Treasure Camp on the Suwannee

We were down there looking for a fishing spot and got lost. Saw some civilization along the river and stopped to ask directions. We met Duffy and his wife Anita, the owners and decided to eat an early dinner there. Seafood cooked exactly right, friendly wait staff and great view of the river. We will definitely find our way back there again.

It was around 3:00pm which is there're happy hour. They had no chicken salad. Before they could make a latte they had to clean the machine. It took 15 min. to get served 2 donuts. There were two people working and that included the drive thru window.

Bar-B-Q Bill's

We were driving through on our way back home and decided to stop to get some takeout. On a Sunday afternoon at 2:00, Bill’s was packed. Everyone was hustling and bustling!

My wife ordered the Charbroiled Chicken Breast and I got the Combination Platter. Both were very good with large portions for a reasonable price.

I do not recommend it for a quick stop for takeout, so if takeout is what you’re planning, I recommend calling ahead and ordering.

Not all BBQ restaurants have sliced pork, and we really prefer it to pulled pork. This pork was delicious and the sauces complemented it well. Fries, beans, and tea completed the meal which was very reasonably priced. A to go cup for our drink refill was a plus. We have eaten here before and the quality is consistently good. We try to time our trip so we can enjoy a meal here when we travel this road.

We ate pizza here during a recent week long stay in the Chiefland area. We had basic pepperoni and it was pretty good. The crust is moderately thin, plenty of cheese and they were generous with the pepperoni. They use good quality pepperoni and cheese. That night a large was only $8.00 and it was plenty for my husband and me. Theyhad other items on the menu including salads. The waitress checked back often and kept our drinks filled. One of the better places to eat in Chiefland.

This is a popular local establishment and the food was ok, service was friendly, and prices resonable. It is a casual dining venue.

I had the catfish and my husband had the fried chicken. Servings were ample. Many diners were having the "all you can eat" seafood dinner and seemed to be enjoying it.

Manatee Springs

We didn't camp here, but definately would. Nice campsites, separated from activity areas for quietness. The springs/water were crystal clear and 72 degrees year round. Lots of people were snorkeling in wet suits canoeing, fishing. Well maintained wooden walkways along the springs and leading to a large observation deck at one end, where a juvenile manatee and large schools of fish hung out. We spent a peaceful hour or so there, chatting with others enjoying the day.

We stopped while passing through due to a recommendation. It was very good and huge selection. There are 6 kinds of barbeque sauces, so you are sure to find one you will love. The pork and beef brisket were both very good.
