Quietly secluded, yet conveniently equidistant between the city of Chiang Rai, Mae Sai and Doi Mae Salong, just haft an hour from Chiang Rai international airport and the Golden Triangle where Myanmar, Laos and Thailand converge. We are an all-suite luxury resort providing guests with superb services and facilities, in a stunning natural setting. Each of our Villas offers 4 to 6 units ensuring guest privacy and serenity with some units close to our pools and lobby area for convenience and some along our beautiful hillside and surrounded by extensive landscaping. The individual sites range in size from 90 to 375 sq. m, including large private balconies that open to magnificent views of rolling hills and verdant forests.
Our stay was too short!! The staff made us so welcome and we are still cherishing our experience there. Everyone had smiles and wishes for us. The Maître D Mr Wah spread smiles and cheer each morning we went for Breakfast; greeting and serving. He made sure every one enjoyed the food. The environment was spectacular; as though we were in a National Park. The well maintained park in the property had some lovely animals and birds. The Jacuzzi was a large heated pool. The Suites were large and well decorated. We have been to over a hundred hotels and resorts in the many years we have been here and we can honestly say this is by far one of the best. Well, one could go on but I think there aren't enough words to express our gratitude, specially because we had gone there to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary.

The stylish boutique resort with 39 spacious river view rooms, full facilities and homely Thai style services. It is situated along the Kok River. Only 10 minutes away from Airport and town.
We arrived after a long journey to this haven of tranquility. It is situated on the river with a lovely pool and beautiful gardens to wander through. Heaven. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and our room had a wonderful view over the pool and river. I would, however, like to have been able to open the window as some fresh air would have been nice. Dinner here was delicious with a wide choice of dishes and breakfast had everything that we fancied. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Laluna advertised cafe breakfasts on their website, but when I arrived I was told smugly that it was canceled a week before Songkran. I love a good Western breakfast before a day of exploring, but the closest breakfast was 1 kilometer away. On the second day, we were obliged to change rooms because of a leak in the ceiling. The maintenance staff was kind and obliging, but the management lacking--at least on April 19-23, 2023.

A quaint hotel with a nice quiet area surrounding us. We got one of the renovated rooms which felt comfy and very inviting. The bathroom was our favorite part, as it was spacy and it seemed like they really thought about the design to appeal to their guests. The bedroom also had an outdoor patio which was nice. The breakfast was also quite good. It was also easy to walk to other locations for shops or eating. The only downsides we had that since we were close to the pool, we could hear children playing at 6:30 hrs, which I think is too early for the pool to open. Also, the staff did not give us Wi-Fi passwords, but it was OK because we weren't in the room too often. But overall, an amazing place to stay!

Probably the only one accommodation available right in the centre of the village, so it doesn’t come cheap. Rooms are indeed nice and modern looking with fast WiFi and decent selection of tv programmes (many international channels). View from dining area balcony is truly spectacular. There’s plenty of very small and almost undetectable mosquitoes, so take some repellent with you. Breakfast is very limited, we were served congee, bread, butter and jam only (plus coffee). There was no restaurant open on the premises at all, so for dinner you either have to go out or bring your own stock.

I stayed three nights at the Teak Garden hotel and enjoyed my stay. Guest rooms are in smaller buildings throughout the property; each building has about six rooms, and the pool is in the center. (I did not use the pool but it looked lovely.) The lobby is open air, near the entrance to the property. My room was clean and made up nicely every day. It was also quite spacious. The bed was comfortable enough though maybe a bit too firm for my taste; there were two comfy pillows. There is closet space and an in-room safe. They also provide a robe and slippers in the room, as well as complimentary bottled water. There is a hot pot with coffee/tea-making supplies, and these were replenished daily. There is AC that is individually controlled & cooled the room down nicely. The room has a desk, which was nice for working, though the room is dark for working. There is no overhead light, just lamps. During the day, there is plenty of day light available through the large windows, but it was dark at night. The Wifi, which was advertised in the public areas only, is available in the guests rooms and was sufficient for emailing and basic browsing. The room has a TV though all channels are Thai only; they do not have any international channels available. I was pleased with the shower in my room. There was good water pressure and it was hot (if you want heat). They provide bar soap, shampoo and shower gel, as well as q-tips and a shower cap. Towels were acceptable quality and changed daily. A buffet-style breakfast is included. Foods include Asian dishes as well as eggs and sausages for Western tastes. There is also fresh fruit, bread for toasting, yogurt, juices, and coffee, tea. The breakfast room has large tables that seat six or more. On two of the three mornings of my stay, I found breakfast to be very crowded. The hotel serves tour groups in motor coaches, so if you happen to go to breakfast shortly before the tour buses are leaving, you may experience that, too. One day of my stay, the breakfast room felt like ants at a picnic with crowding and people moving about; it was even hard to find a table; staff also had trouble keeping up to replenish the food. The next day, I went earlier and it was a little better, though still crowded. On the third day of my stay, I managed to get to breakfast without a crowd of tour bus folks and breakfast was more peaceful. The takeaway from my breakfast experience is to allow plenty of time and expect to have to wait for some foods you want to be replenished if it is very crowded. I have skimmed other reviews and note that one talked about lizards and bugs. I would just say that this is Thailand and the tropics, so I expected bugs and lizards. Though there were lizards on the exterior of the building, happily, none were in my room. That's good enough for me. Finally, I add that the staff were not fluent in English (can't say about other languages). However, that was easily solved by putting a translation app onto my phone. I had a minor maintenance issue in my room, typed in my issue in English, showed them the Thai translation, and they said "OK" and it was taken care of. Overall, this was a fine stay and I expect to stay there again on my next trip to the area.

Boutique Resort in northern Thailand, Chiang Rai, Chiangrai Province, focusing on the charms of a northern village.
Phowadol resort is a nice place, just outside Chiang Rai, convenient for getting to main sites if you have your own car. If you do not have your own transport I would not recommend this place. Maybe because it is off season it felt a bit run down. The ponds which the villas surround were murky and green which spoils a beautiful layout design. Our villa was spacious and comfortable with a nice seating area as well as the bed area. However, the phone did not work which meant no room service ordering nor arranging the ground transport for luggage collection etc and this was not fixed despite reporting it. Also the wi-fi was poor and despite two staff members trying to fix it I was unable to get wi-fi on my iPad throughout the stay, it only worked in the restaurant. Very disappointing and inconvenient. However, given the special price option it was worth the money paid. However, I would probably look at other alternatives in Chiang Rai next time.
