Set on the Ping River, Paak Dang offers a beautiful dining experience in a 2 story Lanna Style Teak Wood house. We serve authentic Thai food that will tickle and tantalise the tastebuds of both the Thai local palate and our friends from all over the world
We went here after reading the many excellent reviews. The location and atmosphere are just lovely. Service is delightful and the trainees make every effort to get it right, which they did every time.I booked for 8.30pm and we arrived 10 minutes early. A good musician was playing guitar and singing but he packed up and disappeared at 8.30! The 2 other customers left shortly afterwards and no more arrived, so we were alone in an eerily quiet restaurant! The corn somtam was great, as were the kale and veg fried rice and all were reasonably priced for a place of this quality and location. However, the jumbo prawn was disappointing. We asked for enough for 2 and we were shown one which they said would be fine. When cooked and split in two, it was really quite insufficient for even the modest appetites of two 70+ year olds. At 800 baht, we feel this was ludicrously expensive. The flavour too was much inferior to those we have enjoyed previously both at Ayutthaya and Nong Khai. I note they say on their website that they are imported. Finally the house wine was just about ok but well overpriced at 190 baht for only half a glass. There is FAR better quality in town for 120-150 baht for a full glass! So, this place has many plus points but for us these were overshadowed by serious overpricing on some items. Dear John, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we are glad you enjoyed dining with us overall except for your experience with our Signature Jumbo Prawns and our wine. Our house pour wines are measured and served to industry standards accordingly and the explanation below should give you a better understanding of why the Jumbo Prawns are pricey but why we still eat them although they have so little meat!In Thailand, giant freshwater river prawns are highly sought after â it is considered a delicacy and a prestigious food that is something nearly all Thais would love to eat. These giant prawns are an expensive treat that are a rare source of indulgence and they are now gracing the plates of gourmands around the region. As these giant prawns are really big-headed, there is relatively little meat for the size of the prawn. Instead, the real treasure lies within the head. The yellow orange blob of butter-looking thing in the head is what eating these prawns are all about! Almost like shrimp butter, creamy and rich with a taste and flavour that is out of this world. The lucky ones who have had a chance to eat these prawns have said that putting a spoonful of this shrimp butter into the mouth was life changing!Best Regards,K-Lin Lim

We've been coming to Thailand for 7 years, and Chiang Mai for 4 years. It takes a lot to impress us.The staff at Alice's are welcoming and provide lots of Thai hospitality. The night we were there was very busy and the staff worked hard to keep everyone happy. We ordered Thai fish cakes, red curry, stir fried broccoli and black rice. I was disappointed with the red curry, it lacked flavour until we added some fish sauce. It was very busy the night we were there, one large group of very noisy people, and another group of people who wanted a table and kept coming in and walking around watching us eat to see if we had finished yet. The staff handled these pushy people really well, acommadating them in the bar area outside. The average rating is about the food. The staff deserve a gold star for the way they handled a noisy, busy restaurant.Clearly a popular place to eat. If you didnât like your food you should have notified the Gold Star staff it would have been replaced to your liking or given free. Not much we can do when the first we hear about a problem is in a review. Thanks for coming:-)

Please be informed that WE DON'T TAKE RESERVATIONS. We do have a bar both in-and outside where you can wait for a table during busy hours. The last order for our kitchen is 23:00. Ugo Bar & Restaurant is a friendly & vibrant venue situated in the heart of
This place likely captures the lion share of the tourist in the city, attracting people with an emphasis in fresh seafood, specifically crab! With the high volume of traffic, the food turnover is daily, all meaning the food is very fresh. Next door they have their branch bar with over 300 beers, pro size pool tables, fooz ball, cable sports games. Name: Renegade. In addition, theyâre located right next door to the thai boxing ring, evenings open match time. Fantastic find! Dear Jonky,Very occasionally, a review comes along that's so perfectly written and so perfectly timed that it lifts the spirits of our entire team.Yesterday was a particularly stressful day and night. We had our busiest day ever and just as the night was finishing we had an incident with a drunk guest who upset one of the staff and threatened to write a terrible review.I went home, tired and disheartened. I was in low spirits. Then I saw the new review notification from Tripadvisor. I assumed it was going to be an online trashing.Instead, it was one of the nicest, sincerest reviews we've ever received. It was impeccable timing.I will hold a staff meeting and show all the staff your review. And they will all love it. :)Many thanks for your kind words and continued support. We look forward to your next visit.Warmest Regards,Ben, Hugo and staff of UGO/Renegade
