I have attended a conference here for a few years. One reason we keep having it here is that it's top-notch in what we need for three days. Great staff, great breakfasts, perfect style in beautiful and comfortable rooms that remain spotless. I can't say enough how warm and welcoming we feel each year.

Helpful and Friendly

Reviewed By Hogerman22

After driving 16 hours to find our reservation at a neighboring hotel was not held, we called this hotel. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, and booked us a room. Other than the old mini-fridge, everything else looked new and clean. From the linens to the shower to the granite countertops, I was pleasantly surprised. Plus, the complementary breakfast was delicious. Our stay was great, and was about $50 cheaper than the nearby "name brand" hotel with breakfast. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stay here. You won't be disappointed!

My stay at Hyatt hotel in Chesapeake Virginia

Reviewed By I5275YVsandraf

I just had a pleasant two day stay at the Hyatt in Chesapeake,VA. My room was clean comfortable and attractive. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and nutritious. There was a good variety of hot and cold items to choose from. Pancakes, bacon, link sausage, eggs (both scramble and hard-boiled), oatmeal, delicious cubed potatoes, cereal, juices, hot tea and coffee, fruit (blueberries, strawberries, grapes, oranges bananas) and Greek yogurt. The manager Mr. Moeen Khan, front desk supervisor Kira Lucoortiz and front desk clerk Glenda Kelly patiently and pleasantly answered all my questions and listened to my comments. I especially enjoyed my conversations with Glenda Kelly and all her kind assistance given to me. My favorite place to relax at the Hyatt hotel in Chesapeake was on the back patio. The patio has comfortable tables and chairs for people to use. It also is surrounded by beautiful pink rose bushes! This area provides guests a quiet place to rest, sit, dine or perhaps smoke in peace. The only negative comment I have to make is regarding the music that is played over the PA system. I felt it was too loud. I also felt that the TV sets that are in the lobby and the dining rooms would better serve weary travelers if they were just showing beautiful, relaxing scenes such as the ones found on AMOS TV. I personally prefer hotels that have soft instrumental music playing in the background. I also prefer hotels that choose to have the TV sets tuned in to more relaxing stations such as AMOS TV and not be turned to News channels such as FOX or CNN. We live in such a stressful world. There is so much noise and bad news all around us. It helps to walk into a beautiful hotel that chooses to play calming sounds and show tranquil scenery instead of blaring, news, sports or "you name it" TV show and loud music over the PA system. We could all use a little more of the calm and tranquil ambiance these days.

Convenient to Prometric testing site. Overall, a grungy feel. Shower water was lukewarm, hot tub is closed for renovations. If you need a diet soda, you need $2 worth of quarters as the vending machine does not accept credit cards or dollar bills.

Great hotel, convenient location

Great Hampton Inn located conveniently to area restaurants, shopping and business locations. I would stay here again when I am back in the area as the staff was extremely friendly. While the internet was out during my stay the staff worked tirelessly to get it back online and stayed in contact to update me of their work. Things break but the fact that they stayed on top of it and stayed in touch was great.

Arrived at the property and female desk staff took care of me right away. I forget her name - Sarah or Sandra I think. She is a long termer there and has always been friendly and helpful when ever I check in or out. Room was nice and clean as always. Close to my job site. Miss the lobby coffee but easy to find a cup on way to work. Will be back next time I am in town.

Simple, clean, fairly quiet

Reviewed By rbrech

This property is amidst a cluster of Marriott and perhaps other hotels - close to highway - and lots of suburban chains. Check in and out was simple, elevators were fine - and the room itself was furnished simply. I only wish it had a microwave - as I tried to reheat some soup in the room safe - and it just didn't work for me.

I was inadvertently check out of my room and all my things were thrown into the garbage.

Reviewed By L9204JRsteves

I traveled into Norfolk for a military retirement ceremony. I arrived on a Thursday and everything was great. Woke up on Friday and went to the ceremony. Again, all good at the hotel. We returned to the hotel after the ceremony to change cloths and then headed back out to dinner. We got back into the hotel around midnight. When I went to my room my key card didn’t work. No big deal, that happens sometime. So, I went to the desk and informed the attendant what happened and he quickly re-coded my card and I was on my way. When I went into my room I was surprised to see a man laying in the bed. We made eye contact and without a word I awkwardly backed out and wondered if I’ve lost my mind. I went back down to the front desk where the attendant asked my name and then informed me I had check out. I corrected him and explained my reservation ran through Saturday and I did not check out. He asked if I was sure. I was positive. I then asked about the status of my things that were left in the room. He left the desk for a time and then returned with a black garbage bag. He handed it to me and I knelt in the floor with staff and guests looking on as I tried to inventory my things, including an expensive suit, my electronics and prescription medication. There were also things in the bag that were not mine. It was humiliating. The attendant found me another room while he profusely apologized and assured me the manager would “comp”my stay. He directed me to come back to the front desk in the morning and ask to speak with the manager. He said he would inform them of the mistake and again assured me that they would take compensate me for the inconvenience. It was approximately 1:30am by the time I got into my new room. When I spoke to the manager the next day he informed me that he was limited as to what he could do but the General Manager would address the situation and that he would make sure to contact me via email the following day. It’s been a few weeks now and I still haven’t heard from them. I’ve called the hotel and Marriott customer service. But nothing. I understand that mistakes happen and as frustrating as it was, I wasn’t even mad. But to blow me off after a pretty serious situation doesn’t seem quite right. I didn’t cause a scene or make demands but I didn’t deserve to be treated that way or to be ignored. I’m a Marriott Titanium Elite member and spend a fair amount of time at their hotels. So, I’m leaving a negative review in hopes that they will do better and ensure that when they make a mistake in the future that they own it and try to make it right with their customers.
