My partner and I have needed to get away for some time and a stay at Channels Lodge was the perfect way for us to relax and recharge. The room was great with a lovely big bed as well as large screen tv with the ability to cast and free wifi. Complimentary tea/coffee and continental breakfast as well as an in room fridge. The best part though was the bathroom. The room had a lovely large tub and a great shower. When we weren't relaxing in the room or enjoying some lovely walks in some gorgeous local country parks etc we had a fabulous meal in the Channels Brasserie. I highly recommend this venue.

Pontlands Park was a very welcome oasis of calm and comfort, sandwiched between two difficult days of hospital visits, memorial services and trying to get my mother's 89-year-old best friend appropriate care. Having driven from Dorset to Suffolk and back to Essex, with the same trips in reverse the next day, I was simply hoping for a comfortable room and a bath. Pontlands Park exceeded my expectations with a really friendly welcome on arrival, hassle-free EV charging, a fresh and delicious sandwich and huge pot of tea as I was too late for the restaurant, and the offer of pudding despite my lateness, a huge room with an enormous bed and a lovely view of the garden and a spotlessly clean bathroom. The room was quiet and really comfortable, well equipped and a good temperature and, after a really good night's sleep and an excellent breakfast I was ready to face day 2. I would thoroughly recommend Pontlands Park to anyone needing a really welcoming and comfortable place to stay and, despite being very near Chelmsford, I felt that I was really staying in the country. Staying there was thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing - many thanks to the unfailingly friendly and helpful staff.

If a loved one is getting married at a venue nearby, or you'd just love to explore this corner of the South East, Premier Inn Hotel Chelmsford Springfield is the ideal spot. There are plenty of stunning wedding venues like Boreham House and Leez Priory nearby, and we're very well connected with good transport links too. Have an engagement with first class cricket at Essex County Cricket Ground. Or ring the changes with a fantastic weekend at the nearby V Festival. Say 'I do' to some great shopping and eating out, then come back to the hotel for a meal in our restaurant, with a lovely marriage of traditional and contemporary food, and finally a night in a comfy bed.
I have stayed here on two previous occasions and found it to be alright. This time, several years later, it was run down, extremely dirty, I had to clean my own bath which i took a photo of the cloth after. The shower curtain stank too!! The bathroom stank of backed up sewage. The bed was squeaky, doors slamming until 2.30am, no breakfast or dinner available. The room was like sleeping in a sauna. I was there to visit a very ill relative in Chelmsford having travelled from Cumbria. This place ruined everything. It was disgusting.

We are a family owned hotel with 36 ensuite bedrooms including a Bridal Suite with 4 poster bed & spa bath.
Having decided The Oakland was the most convenient for Stow Maries airfield, where I intended to visit for an air show, I had a look at their website (should have looked on Tripadvisor...) and thought it looked an established hotel perhap in an older part of town, but no. It's right in the centre of town. Access was limited to the front of the hotel by numerous double yellow lines, which seem to have been largely ignored. I eventually parked in the town square, which seemed strangely empty. The girl on reception, oh hold on, she wasn't on reception, she was serving behind the bar to what looked like hardened drinkers. Anyway she did sort out a key for a room on the first floor and assured me the car would be OK parked on the square. Once in the room, which was OK, I read through the information file which stated there was a small hotel car park to the rear. Having noted there was a chain and lock on the entrance to the Square car park I decided to seek out the official car park. I discovered it was in fact 3 spaces next to the rear of an Indian restaurant and someone had abandoned a van on the rear access, however, there was another entrance through an archway between the hotel and restaurant, just where a Transit had be parked on the double yellows! After going out for a meal, the Transit had gone so I sped around to use the hotel's car park. For my aging Jag, it was a snug fit to get through the arch between the hotel and restaurant but carefully avoiding the myriad of rubbish bins I managed to park up, at least knowing I wouldn't be fined and locked in the other parking area! On the hotel website it said there would be live music on the night I was staying, so headed for the bar to find it crammed with soccer fans watching and cheering a TV screen. No sign of the live music... that was until I had gone to bed to the noise of now very relaxed soccer fans below. The noise ceased! Excellent, sleepy time! Ummm no, that was the time the live entertainment was setting up and so at 10.30pm the noise, much louder than the TV, started. All the 60's & 70's favourites were performed without much regard to the original melody or singers. It did finish at 12.30, but the bar across the Square continued with music, admittedly at a slightly lower volume. Pillow firmly over head, I finally drifted off. Deprived of my usual hours of sleep I failed to wake up to enjoy the breakfast.

I have stayed at the Chelmsford Serviced apartments on many occasions and I think I’ve stayed in all of them from the one bed to the penthouse. All of the apartments are decorated to a really high standard, very modern, airy and immaculately clean. Everything you need is at hand from tea and coffee to bath robes and shower gel. I can not recommend these apartments enough and when ever I’m in Chelmsford it’s my only choice of place to stay.

Instructions involving codes for gate and doors, plus an online registration form, made a daunting introduction. I made a phone call before travelling, to find exactly where to park. In the end, it proved easy. Parking was in a marked area at the rear of the nursery next door, and the various doors were no problem. The old house was a delight, though not quite so good inside. I was allocated a large single room, poorly furnished and decorated, but well stocked with proper coffee and a 'French press' maker. I could have done without the message that I would be prosecuted if I vandalised the place; I didn't. and I wouldn't have, anyway. My biggest complaint was the bed - horrible soft, squidgy mattress, scratchy linen. I think they may have changed it, following my moan, but I wasn't sure! Apart from that, all was good. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, and served in a fine room. More excellent coffee. The shared bathroom proved no problem at all, and I had a pleasant stay. I was there to watch a cricket match in nearby Chelmsford, and transport links were excellent. It was also walkable, for someone fitter than me. Great Baddow itself is very pleasant. The bottom line is that I would happily stay here again.

It’s ok, the outside noise can’t be helped but it is soooo noisy constant police etc going past & beeping at the roundabout . The staff were outside the main entrance smoking when I arrived and didn’t greet us. When we left there was nowhere to put our card staff didn’t help when I was looking until I eventually asked and they said ‘just give it to me’ the bed felt broken in the middle, and it was squeaky as hell. The toilet made a awful noise when you flushed it & the bed sheets had brown stains on.
