Reviews on European food in Esztergom, Central Transdanubia, Hungary. Established around A.D. 972, Esztergom has always played an important role in Hungary's history. It was the birth and coronation place of the first Hungarian king, St. Stephen, as well as the capital of Hungary until the 13th century. Esztergom is the seat of the Hungarian Catholic Church and home to the Basilica of Esztergom, a masterpiece of Classicism and the third largest church in Europe.

It's like a small family restaurant, the staff are very kind and the food is delicious. Nothing fancy, but really enjoyable for the price. They are specialized on fishes (they even have their own small lake with fishes in the garden) but they also have other kinds of meals.

The pictures along the other reviews tell the whole story about this place. Decent food, and lots of it! Still not really great value for money, since the dishes are somewhat expensive for a small Slovak city. Some allergy information is different on the English and Slovak menus, so ask for both if you need that!

Happened to found this place while visiting the brascila. Free wifi . Food quality average . The tomato soup though was good.

As our pensione did not offer a great breakfast (and it wasn't cheap either), we were searching for somewhere to go during our stay in Esztergom.Isler absolutely ticked all the boxes: lively, upbeat atmosphere with lots of locals popping in for take-away breakfasts or a coffee on their way to work; others sitting out on the pavement in the sunshine; the friendliest manager you could hope to find - and wonderful breakfasts! We had freshly-squeezed orange juice, the freshest of fresh pastries, coffee, bacon and eggs - all for the price it would have been back at the pensione for instant coffee and coco-pops!Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who also spoke English, (hot milk with the coffee, butter with the bread...) - don't bother searching around, this is the best place in town!

An elegant restaurant was built in the monumental environment in the water town of Esztergom, where Hungarian dishes are made on a plate with a pinch of tricks.
Beautiful restaurant inside & out. Stylish & contemporary decor inside plus stunning views of the river from the outdoor terrace. Our waitstaff Zshopia & Milan were very attentive, friendly and made conversation in English. Very pleased to see menu listings in 3 languages so easy to order. Complimentary bread slices & paprika cottage cheese dip were brought out with our drinks. Our meals were absolutely delicious and plated very decoratively. We chose chicken & duck dishes - see photos - followed by desserts of cheesecake with meringue plus 3 sponge cakes with chocolate, cream & orange sauce. Everything was amazing! Highly recommended. With drinks & small service charge it came to 12310 HUF (A$61) for a 5**** dinner! Thank you very much for your feedback! :)

Italian style pizza
Was recommended this restaurant by our hotel and so pleased we came. We had a goats cheese salad, Parma ham and mozzarella salad, rosemary chicken with mushroom risotto and spaghetti carbonara. All were delicious and with a beautiful location sitting out overlooking the Danube and bridge. Also very reasonably priced and with a children's play area.

A few steps from the cathedral it is possible to park without problem, large terrace. The food particularly the knuckle was amazing. The knuckle dish with potato and an XL-size baked sauce for three people can feed four. The rations in general are plentiful and of great quality. The treatment is professional and correct. We would repeat without a doubt. Recommended in Trip and by the local people. Congratulations for your work

Before the 1-day trip to Esztergom, I read the reviews. I confirm all positive reviews - the place is really a gem. Conveniently situated under the Cathedral. You cannot miss it when coming from the Maria Valeria bridge. Perfect service, delicious meals, not expensive if you take in mind the high quality. Highly recommended.

Stop here. You have come far enough. Do not be tempted by the excitement of the unknown. This is literally the only restaurant worth trying in Esztergom. Lovely setting under the basilica and phenomenal food. A true standout in a town otherwise serving bland roadside campground fare. So make that trek up the hill and treat yourself to their deliciously balanced rosé when you get there.
