Best meal weâve eaten in a long time. We had slow cooked duck and orange infused mashed potato. Delicious thanks and weâll be back for more.
We spent a night in Bhaktapur at the very start of October, and absolutely loved it. Such a fascinating place, definitely worth a bit more time than the standard day trip. A word of warning if you do stay over though, this is clearly not a place for late eaters! We were planning to eat dinner in Shiva Cafe, arrived at 8.20pm (after a stroll through some deserted streets) and were surprised to be told that they'd stopped serving. Somewhat at a loss after dark in a strange city, we asked if they knew anywhere else nearby that might be open. After a couple of phone calls, it became apparent that no, they did not! We were offered the chance of some cereal or perhaps yoghurt and muesli, but we thought we'd try our luck on the streets instead. After a few more failures, we eventually heard voices drifting down from an upstairs window, and soon found ourselves in Ja Cafe. And they were still serving dinner, at the truly outrageous hour of 9pm!! What must the locals think of such decadence? The food itself was actually pretty good, we shared some delicious momos, some very nice veggie spring rolls, and a pretty dire pizza. The dining room wasn't the most inspiring, but we were just so pleased to be eating dinner that we hardly noticed! In truth, the meal was probably a four star experience at best (steer clear of the pizza) but we felt they deserved a bonus point for saving us from a dinner of soggy cornflakes.

We stayed three days in Bhaktapur and spend a lot of time in this restaurant. The food is very good and cheep. The inhabiter and his crew are very friendly and helpful. They showed us a lot of things around Bhaktapur and we spend a really good time with them.Thank you for everything

Despite the great location I thought this place was pretty average. The lemon water is the least refreshing drink and it's so sour and not tasty. Thank you for the writing. We take full responsibility for the mistake and we assure that such incidents will not happen in the future.

When you are in Bhaktapur and looking to try some newari cuisine, check out the newari thali with beaten rice aka baji. Newars are the indigenous people of Kathmandu. There is an option of chicken or buffalo. It has a nice garden outdoor seating area. Order their lassi for drinks. At the end of the meal they served us rice wine on the house thank you for the yummy food, will definitely return when we are back to Bhaktapur. Also dont forget to try the juju dhau made locally in bhaktapur a few min away from the restaurant.

Freshpresso coffee bar is located in the heart of bhaktapur, serving varieties of espresso beverage and several other drinks.
Staying in Vajra-Guesthouse we spent a lot of time in the coffe-bar. Freshly prepared coffee, made with passion and the love for the taste of coffe-specialities this is a pearl within Bakhtapur . We loved the cappucino in combination with chocolate-brownie after returning from Sagarmatha-National-Park. If you are around sit down in front of the guest house, enjoy your favourite coffee and a view on the temple - or have it served on the roof-top of the hotel.

"La Bella Nepali" Restaurant (Nepalplanet, Planet Bhaktapur Hotel) is located into The Planet Bhaktapur Hotel. Restaurant, Garden, Roof top. Good food and smiles.
When we came to the place it was all dark because of the powercuts. But we was met by the very friendly staff who fast lid the candlelight and made it very cosy. We both chose spaghetti and were very positively surprised. The pasta was very good and cooked al dente and with a delicious tomatosauce. In theese times in Nepal with powercuts, fuel and gas shortage and still rebuilding after the terrible earthquake you have to expect that not everything work completely. But this place really does the job! Plus we got a free ride home on a motorbike. Thank you so much.Thank you so much for coming to dinner at "NepalPlanet" La Bella Nepali Restaurant. Amrit, Anil and all the staff are happy to have you satisfied.I take this opportunity to recommend to all, in this difficult period in Nepal, to book in advance if possible. Food mainly Nepalese, Italian on request. Namaste!
