Anura Village Foods offers authentic Sri Lankan food in an authentic environment. It was not too spicy for our European taste buds but full of flavour nonetheless. Thank you for a true Sri Lankan experience! I believe I speak for our entire group of Fox travels.

Dined here with spouse while staying at the Hotel Sigiriya.This restaurant is just a short walk from the hotels and from the downtown area, located at the Sigiriya Tank where you can watch people taking elephant rides and daily life passing by. Friendly locals and a number of small souvenir shops in the area (local craftsmen plying their trade).Had veg fried rice and a chicken stir fried vegetables & noodles. Portions are huge! One dish would have been enough for two to share. As it was, we had leftovers which we took back to our hotel, put in the fridge, and ate the next day for lunch. Total was 760 rupees.Food was freshly prepared (we could hear everything sizzling in the kitchen) and the owner/cook speaks very good English. Menu also in English. We ate on the small outdoor dining terrace and saw three wild elephants come to the "tank" (lake) to drink as the sun set! Views of Lion Rock were beautiful.Make sure you take a flashlight/torch with you and be aware walking back to the hotels that there are wild elephants in the area; but, it is only a 5-7 minute walk from the two "tourist" hotels to this restaurant. Locals will also caution you.We enjoyed our meal here (and leftovers the next day) and hope you will too!

For a late lunch in Sigiriya, the New Sigri Restaurant was recommended by the Sigiriya hotel. At the restaurant we were told that the Buffet was available for 900 LKR. When we went to the buffett table almost all the trays were empty. I told the waiter that there was no food in the trays and indicated that the trays would be refilled. We took what was left of from the trays and returned to our table awaiting the refill of the buffett trays. The waiter then told us that he would bring some items to our table. He brought 3 items and nothing else. When I asked about specific items that were empty in the buffet table he indicated what we were lucky and the buffet was normally 1300 LKR. I asked our driver to complain to the manager, which he did; however, the manager was young man who had no customer service experience and told our driver that that he had given additional items at the table that were usually priced individually at a higher price. I asked our driver to tell the manager that they displayed poor customer service and should not have offered the buffett if he new that there were empty trays with no items. The buffett was cold with no food and the customer service was non-existent.
