The atmosphere is not very inviting for a dinner place. Music is to loud to allow a conversation at the dining table. The Menu looks exciting, but what you find at your plate is not very special. The Sirloin Steak about 120 grams for 22 USD with a very small salad, will let you leave the place hungry, even if you are not a big eater.

We visited Furusato after a long hiatus, since moving from Westlands. We arrived at 12:30 on a Saturday and were surprised to find the teams still cleaning, even the restaurant was open.Nevertheless, we settled on window table in the main dining room and ordered our sushi. What I have always liked about Furusato are the many options. It's not unusual for us to order prawn tempura, fried rice and then our sushi boat. I appreciate the appetizer salad served at the start of the meal. Service is prompt and efficient. The restaurant filled up quickly, which is a testament to the quality of food. Prices are also a bit steep but for the quality of fish used in the sushi, very fair.Furusato is not a typical Japanese restaurant and has a significant number or Korean dishes on offer. The main dining hall and type of service is a bit dated though.Overall a reliable dining option.

Great place for a wedding, nicely laid out and very attractive. Service was good courteous staff, tasty treats, we had small bites not a meal but many folks were eating, well 'attended' a large facility. Has a children's play area.

Japanese style Restaurant&Bar "IZAKAYA" which operated by Japanese in Nairobi Kenya The restaurant name "CHEKA" means "Laugh" in Swahili language:))
We decided to have our second anniversary dinner here. We called ahead and reserved a table. We liked the ambience and overall look and feel of the place. The wait-staff were personable. My wife ordered the fried chicken with roasted potatoes (there's no indication on the menu that the chicken is marinated in sake). On tasting the chicken, it tasted off like it wasn't fresh and we asked the waiter to return it. She decided to only have the roasted potatoes. When the bill was brought, the roasted chicken had been charged, even though we returned the food, uneaten. The waitress tried to pass off a 10% discount, but we insisted that we hadn't eaten the food and wouldn't pay for what we hadn't eaten. We were happy and willing to pay for food and drinks we have consumed. This is when she brought the Japanese chef/owner of the place. This gentleman wouldn't listen to reason and was more concerned that he had already cooked the food so who would eat it! His arrogance on a high, he said that his countrymen liked his cooking so he doesn't understand why we didn't like it. The condescension was appalling. We pointed out to him that all over the world, as a customer, if you are disappointed with a food item, you are allowed to return the food and NOT be charged for it. Seems like Cheka was set up for the Japanese patrons in Nairobi. This experience completely ruined the evening for both my wife and I, and on our anniversary night no less. Terrible, terrible service.
