Traveling through to Alentejo we passed through Castelo Branco. The place seemed dead on a Saturday around 13.00-ish. But Hamburgeria da Baixa was open with people outside on the terrace. The burgers they service are coming in great varieties, lots of creativity. The place is nice, allowance to draw on the toilet doors, making your mark. Negative was the loud music, which style we really didn't like. We didn't complain, but ate great burgers.

Care de porco alentejana was on the daily menu. It was very well prepared and tasty, but a bit light on the clams. No 1/2 servings were offered. However I left half the dish on the serving platter and only was charged 6.00 euros, not the 7.50 euros listed on the menu. The green bean and carrot soup (again, on the daily menu) was a nice starter. This is a very unpretentious local eatery. Nothing fancy. But the lunch was satisfying.

Not a fancy place, but a very pleasant restaurant for a everyday lunch. Staff is very kind and the restaurant is very calm. Well located near a pool with a beautiful view.It is a buffet style restaurant (â¬6,00 pp) with starters, main and drink. Honest food, very well cooked. Good to go in group. To visit again.

This is probably one of the best kept secrets of Castelo Branco! In one of the side streets close to the city square lies this discrete hidden gem of a place! Packed with locals of various age groups and also some regular expats, is usually a guarantee for good quality and fresh produce given the guest turnover. Don't be discouraged by the outside look which may suggest that the place is closed. A small table outside with two chairs is a signal that it is open. I was welcomed by a radiant waitress who was equally comfortable in English. I had some dietary restrictions e.g. no oil, no carbs etc. These were noted by the waitress and indeed implemented. Before the maincourse bread olives and a delicious tuna-onion spread was served on the house. The food I had was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. I had ordered grilled Cabillaud and steamed vegetables. The coffee that followed was exceptionally good. Service was prompt and polite and never rushed. My lunch bill was EUR 12.50 only. I was so intrigued by the quality of food and service that I had to enquire about the owner of the restaurant. I was introduced to Chef Miguel who is the proud owner of this outstanding restaurant. This is a gem with an exceptionally good quality:price ratio! A must visit! A big round of applause to the Team of O'Jardim for their outstanding service to food lovers.

This restaurant stays in a first floor with stairs, I think it doesn't have elevator, so it is quite inaccessible. The place has a very poor decoration and, as it has an open kitchen with the oven in the room, it is very hot. In the day we went is was uncomfortable. However service is very nice and staff is very kind. The food is also very good. Prices are ok, about â¬10,00 each plate. I hope they put a more powerful air conditioner.

The restaurant is nice, well- decorated. Staff and host were very friendly and attentive. The octopus starter salad was very good. The meat main dishes were ok, not too impressive. The meat was a bit dry and overcooked. The local wine was good. Well, it was a pleasant dinner.

One of the better Castelo Branco restaurants we visited in Feb. We waited a while for the 1/2 filled restaurant to seat us Sunday afternoon(note other reviews complain of similar frustrations!).Omce seated, a 28EUR lunch included :5EUR gambas which aren't really tasty or worth it, but still 5 EUR for the 5 ain't bad11.50EUR for both a robalo and dourado fish. Better fish than we ate in other CB establishments, although nothing compared to the coast.LOADS of extra side veggies - potatoes (do you even need to say you had potatoes given you are ordering at a restaurant in Portugal?), 2 orders of spinach and kale gallega, rice, and french fires4.99 EUR for 1 delicious bottle of Beira QUINTA DOS TERMOS dry red wine2 coffeesAll this for 28.50 EUR.Service spanned the indifferent to lukewarm front. i'd return if in CB again.

Food is good. Service is really slow. Ordered simple chicken breast with white rice and veggies. From sitting to eating took more than 60 min. :( way to much. Apart from it, the waiter is nice and the food is tasty. So if you donât mind waiting ages, then you will be fine. The restaurant has around 10 tables and only 1 waiter. The price is ok.

On the long drive from Nazare to Belmonte I read looking for a restaurant offering excellent local foods. This restaurant was highly rated and we couldn't fault the service nor the food. The staff were very friendly and were keen to explain what their salads comprised.Given the distance from the sea we opted for veal and the secret pig dishes. Wow. Thinly sliced and plentiful. These two meat dishes were bbq'd to perfection. The surprise for us was the great salads offered in conjunction with the mains. I'm sorry to say I can't name them.... an apple pineapple and cucumber was so fresh and crisp. Whatever these guys offer should be accepted. Their house white was an egg dish with a side of fresh tomatoes and finely sliced onion. Perfect...Definitely stop off if you are looking for somewhere decent and friendly
