Stopped in on a Friday night with friends. Tried a couple flights, they are changing beers constantly. A
Couple hard ciders too. We had dinner as well; someday sandwich, buffalo chicken dip, white pepper sandwich, where'd the cheese go sandwich. Nachos with pork was very tasty. The pizzas looked good and we all had food envy. All our food rocked! Staff is fun and friendly. I've been here several times and always have a great time. Love this place!

We own a home in this area, but have never
tried this place. It was an early summer evening and we wanted to sit outside, have a drink and a snack. We chose a table and were delivered water and menus, and then...NOTHING. Everyone sitting outside was ignored. We are pretty patient people, but we'd had time to study the food and beverage menu, in depth, and....NOTHING. Finally we decided to push closer to home and abandon this plan. Maybe we'll try again some other time. The food sounded good and the drinks were reasonably priced, but we have nothing to say, because, apparently, they forgot about half there customers outside.

Ordered the Broiled Walleye with Lime Remoulade Sauce.
It came with Uncle Ben's wild rice and some slaw. Really disappointed the rice wasn't even homemade.
The presentation was awful.... not a sprig of parsley or lemon, or garnish of any kind. Very bland.
Definitely ordered the wrong thing.

231-533-8538 Ruthie's is a special destination in the town of Bellaire. Must visit! We always go for ice cream creations, but the food is good too. The ceiling and walls are decorated with vintage kitchen stuff. It is open It is open seasonally, but in season, the people are lined up out the door. It is small, with seating for perhaps 30 people or so. It is just down the street from the Grand Victorian Inn, where we always stay.
After golf we ate early and came to Ruthie's for dessert. We both had sundaes....hers was hot fudge, mine was caramel and cashews. You can get either soft server or hard ice cream....we picked hard icecream. Sundaes were huge, and tasty. There are a few chairs and picnic tables beside the place...nothing fancy.

Good but rather expensive ice cream cones @ $3 for single dip. Discovered after ordering that I had misread the menu: 'soft' ice cream was less than $2 for a cone...but 'hard' ice cream was more. Lesson learned...I will read the menu more carefully next time.

I ended up coming here 3 times on my trip Up North this year. All 3 times I ordered the Bourbon Street Steak. Awesome steak. Delicious every time. It comes with Bread that is excellent. One meal I got French Onion Soup that was good. The other two visits I got a salad that was large and very fresh. All 3 visits I got Mashed Potatoes that were excellent. The Last visit I got a piece of Chocolate Cake to go, it was an excellent piece of cake. Also on the Last Visit I ate with a friend that had the Perch Sandwich. He stated it was excellent.
The Service was excellent.
Overall 4.5 Stars. Since I have to round I'll round up. I will be back next year.

We always come to The Front Porch to eat when staying on Torch Lake during the summer. Such nice folks here. This is a non profit ministry with suggested donation prices on your ticket. Pay more and help feed the needy or pay less if you need to. All prices on the menu are suggested donations. We had a great diner type meal for breakfast. My favorite part is the Rocky Top cherry jelly they serve with their toast. So good. We even went to Rocky Top to buy more. Great place to eat up north!

Torch Lake Cafe is an American restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cafe offers a wide selections of foods including pizzas and flatbreads and has a full service bar.
Visited on a Wednesday night. Wasn’t busy and was seated immediately. Staff members were great; drinks came almost immediately. Menu has a variety of choices with a separate pizza menu; some items seemed a bit pricey but it is located in a tourist area with expensive homes so that is understandable. We didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive. It was okay but nothing special; I had an olive burger and a side of onion rings. I had hoped they would have been homemade but they weren’t. My wife had the chicken parmigiana which she said tasted good but she was a bit disappointed with the “toast” that came with it. We will give the place another chance and order something different next time. As I stated, the place looks great and staff was good.
