Reviews on European food in Khalkis, Central Greece, Greece. Chalcis (/ˈkælsɪs/; Ancient Greek & Katharevousa: Χαλκίς, Chalkís) or Chalkida (Modern Greek: Χαλκίδα, [xalˈciða]) is the chief town of the island of Euboea in Greece, situated on the Euripus Strait at its narrowest point. The name is preserved from antiquity and is derived from the Greek χαλκός (copper, bronze), though there is no trace of any mines in the area. In the late Middle Ages, it was known as Negropont(e), an Italian name that has also been applied to the entire island of Euboea.

The sea quality in general is much better than the last years in this area, so as a result more and more people visit alykes. You can visit it for many reasons. Coffee, food, late drinks, and there is a playground for kids too. The place is big enough even on the beach or in the open area of sabbia. I suggest this place if you visit alykes!
They have 2 price levels. If you're not Greek you'll pay 5 euros for a (very) small beer (2.50 otherwise). Idiots! It's the first time we've exoerienced this, in 12 years of visiting & living in Evia. They're going to lose a lot of business this way.

A restaurant just a few steps from the Halkida old bridge and the Euripus strait.
I visited scholarhio with my family for dinner. The food was very basic. The service was TERRIBLE! At a point that we got very angry! Also i found hair in my pasta which it wasnât the best surprise! Definitely the worst part of the night was the service! I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone but my worst enemy!

Stavento has been there for as long i can remember. It is located in the most ideal location around Chalkida seafront. Both restaurant and bar have always been top quality..
