Such great potential if maintained well.

In all honesty the place is a great looking rustic place with beautiful trees and plants, ornamentation and attention to detail. You are surrounded by nature and natural materials, all very welcoming! We had the privilege of staying in the #14 chalet as well as at the camp site with friends. The only annoying things were the mosquitos in their hundreds in the room, if only the cleaning staff could spray the rooms prior to us checking in. Then spray once more after they prep the rooms again. The mosquito net helped but not when you need to exit and enter the room throughout the day. The bar at one stage didn’t have ice for our drinks, and no lemonade for Rock/Malawi Shandy. The English breakfast took 65 minutes to prepare at the restaurant which is far too long when you wake up hungry and look forward to the first meal of the day. I would come back again for sure, however better prepared with insect spray. The Guinea fowl roaming the area are a nice sight but they will wake you very early in the mornings. Again I will visit once more for sure!

Okay place to visit the salt pans

Reviewed By Haelen

This place is okay to stay for one night to visit the Salt Pans nearby. The bungalows are a bit dark and there is AC, but no mosquito screens. The place has seen better times, but is still fine. The food at the restaurant was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. We liked the very salty swimming pool.

Could do better

Reviewed By Alex_Egypt_Purple

We spent one night in the standard room. No Tv signal , no extra blanket , only 1 light blanket , no proper covers for mattress, not comfortable at all. Bathroom has no bin , no amenities and the whole room could do better with proper cleaning. Air conditioning and wifi was good, and location , next to choppies , which was good because the guest house doesn`t do meals.

Unglaubliche Nacht

Reviewed By bleikugel2019

Magic.

The friendly staff went the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay and never ceased to put a smile on our faces. An urban disconnect - limited cell and WiFi connection offered the ideal place for our family to bond. The field guides in my opinion are world class. Goodluck finding a better field guide duo elsewhere! Thank you for an unforgettable getaway, Koro!

Cold shower

Reviewed By dorette441

We arrived at Kwanokeng just after sunset on 12/5/2022 after travelling for 16 hours & organised our camp setup. After settling down, one lady in our group went to shower & reported back that she could not shower, as the water was ice cold. The trucks at the Martins Drift Border Post also kept us awake during the night. The next morning there was still no hot water in the ladies' shower & we had to continue our travels to our next stopover without being able to shower. I would not advise a stay over if you are tired & in need if a hot shower

Clean & cool but badly managed

Reviewed By Helen B

We turned up and luckily got two rooms for our hot and tired family. Rooms are clean however only the bedroom is air conditioned, there is only enough cutlery, tea and coffee for one person - and only one towel. When we asked if we could have dinner we were told we would have to wait until 10pm because that was when the hospital staff who stay here finish their shifts! Breakfast is free for one person everyone else has to pay - even though we had two rooms. Man at reception is clueless and took our money without offering change, I had to ask for it. Staff don’t seem to care. Disappointing - but no other options in Serowe.

A Pleasant Night

Reviewed By Sandy W

We were a group of 5 who spent a night at Makumutu Lodge on our way to Maun. It would have been very enjoyable had it not been for another party of about 12 local people who partied outside their chalets until after 1 am in the morning - their music was blaring and they were extremely loud, so much so that none of us could sleep. The chalets were neat and clean and the linen was good, showers had good pressure and hot water. The dinner was good - we were warned to order early due to slow service, which we did and our order arrived promptly. The receptionist was wonderful. {I actually took her name so that I could mention it, but somewhere during our travels I lost it}, but she was really helpful and very professional. Should we pass this way again we would stay the night - but not on a weekend at the end of the month as we did this time - I doubt that locals would be having a party there during the week.
