Carpe Diem is one of the very nicest restaurants we have eaten at in our two months of traveling in Colombia. The restaurant is set in a beautiful colonial house organized around a central courtyard filled with plants. There are several dining sections organized around this central courtyard. The whole house is tastefully decorated with historical artifacts. The local specialities are potato based: either various variations on boiled potatoes (with different types of meats and cheeses or shrimp or vegetables) or various combinations of "rostie" (fried shredded potato). All of this is quite more refined than it sounds. There are also non-potato options if you prefer. The service is fantastic - very very attentive and friendly. The prices are very reasonable: 12,000 to 17,000 per dish. It is frequented by a mix of locals and tourists. I warmly recommend this restaurant.Thank you, You're always welcome here!
Pinemma is a cafe specializing in vegetarian food especially, where you will find daily dishes for lunch with a vegetarian option and a variety of homemade coffee and pastry preparations with original recipes, we invite you to meet us and be surprised by
Not great. Lots of room to be improved. Only customers and took 30 mins to bring coffee - bit pricey but it was burnt to bits and rather horrible. Cheesecake was amazing but brownie was dry and flavorless. Seats are uncomfortable.A lot of work needs to be done before I would return - I mean 30 mins wait for a quick bit is insane! Hola!Espero que podamos tener el gusto de volver a atenderte y demostrarte que esos errores desde ya van a ser corregidos, muchas gracias por tu sugerencia y feliz viaje
PROS*I think most empanadas in Colombia taste the same. These are an exception. Some of the best Iâve had.*That peanut sauce has a little kick to it. I dig that.*These bite-sized empanadas are cheap. Like $1 for 5.CONS*No complaints.

We went to dinner here. As compared to other places in this city the setting is very nice, almost like a place in a bigger city. We ordered a Picada and the quality was very poor but the size generous, clearly made for those with hunger and no taste. Asked for the wine list and only had two brands, of very poor quality. Staff was very helpful and kind. To sum up, nice place but (at least for what we ordered) quality was average

Having been to Popayan many times, I have tried many restaurants. This restaurant is the best I have eaten at - so far! It is located in the Hotel San Martin, but has a welcoming feel as you enter, and it is not part of the hotel. Being on site, it may be beneficial to both the owner and hotel to come to an agreement, to enable guests to charge their meal to their room? The place is relatively new, and looks very clean. The menu is not large but more than enough to keep people happy, with a variety of options. The owner and staff are running a very efficient restaurant that wil hopefully give them their just rewards for their hard work and endeavor as time moves on.I opted for the steak which was cooked to perfection. I also had a nice glass of red to accompany it.As I stated in my title, I believe this to be the best restaurant in Popayan and hope it continues to improve in time. Will certainly return on my next visit, and recommend highly.

Great service & great lunch. We had the set lunch-soup, lightly battered fish, rice, salad, bread & a drink for 9,000 pesos (finishes around 1:30/2pm so don't leave it too late to pop in). Delicious lunch & super value! We also stopped by another time and had two smoothies! Strawberry & passionfruit-yum! You won't be disappointed with lunch in this place.

Walking into this restaurant you might not expect too much from it - bit oh, was I surprised! The three ladies there, who are incredibly nice and welcoming, prepare a wonderful meal for you - and I only payed 5000 Pesos for my dinner! I really recommend this place, it's yummy, authentic and really, really nice!

Whilst food is nice we went on a Friday evening when a local was having their birthday celebration which was fine after the 4 Happy birthday songs. However they brought in a singer with large amp who belted out very loud renditions of Colombian favourites such we could no longer hear to chat between us! The restaurant proceeded to empty over next 20 minutes along with ourselves - so warning check before you commit to eat here at weekends.

We were taken to this place by the guide of the free tour. What a delight! We could try different specialities if Popoyan. Everything we tried was delicious and full of taste. I had tamale and tried 3 types of juices / shakes. I also bought the dark chocolate made out of beans made in the region and it was delicious.
