Windborne Bed and Breakfast

Bed and Breakfast. Many of our guests, both business and holiday travellers, have expressed how comfortable and welcome they feel at Windborne B&B. We've heard appreciation for the luxurious surroundings and casual atmosphere, plus for the great breakfasts. That about sums up why we are in business! It's all about people and providing a great place to stay. Temperature regulated by a heat pump for your comfort. Soft water system. Post and beam construction. Purpose built in 2007.

Chameleon Hotel

Chameleon Hotel, located downtown Castlegar. We like to keep it a nice and quiet place for you to enjoy your stay with us. The hotel includes a small European style restaurant with mostly German cuisine, but we also serve French, Italian, Russian and of course North American dishes (see under Chameleon Restaurant on TripAdvisor). The Hotel is not too far away from Rossland’sfamous Red Mountain ski area(about 30-35km) and Nelson’s White Water Mountain ski area( about 50 km). It’s paradise for outdoor lovers here. Beside skiing there is lot more to do ,i.e. rock climbing, white water rafting , mountain bicycling, canoeing ,swimming, hiking , and so much more.

Don't be fooled!

Run down Hotel! The bed was okay and the room was clean, but is in need of repair and upgrading. Very creaky floors. The owners were nice but did not run the hotel in a professional manner. There was nothing nearby to do, even on a friday night. No pubs or anything in the area. Maybe nothing in the town at all! Keep going

Dark, dingy, no soap Hotel

Reviewed By jeffdG6590KD

There are limited hotel options when staying in Castlegar but whatever you do, don't stay here. We had four rooms rented for a family event in town. Here are some of the issues we found: 1. The rooms didn't have any soap. None. They did provide a bottle of hand sanitizer but they ran out of soap for the entire hotel. 2. Pillows. They are the biggest, lumpiest pillows I have ever slept on. Sore necks for everyone. 3. I think they must have had a sale on 30 watt light bulbs. The entire place has poor lighting. Especially, the bathrooms. 4. The hot tub was full of sand. It looked like someone bathed a Sheepdog in it. 5. Our room was above the back door exit where everyone goes out to smoke and drink. I opened our window and politely asked them to be quiet as it was past midnight. They responded with an FU. Nice folks! 6. Bring earplugs. The air conditioner kicks in every 30 mimutes and it sounds like a lawn mower. 7. My cousin had a room facing the inner courtyard where the pool and the sheepdog bath are located. We walked into the room and were knocked out by the smell of chlorine and the humidity from the pool makes it additionally unpleasant. So in short, try another hotel.

Huge Disappointment!

Reviewed By B1315ODlisad

Pool and water slide were closed but we were not notified ahead of time (the only reason we chose this hotel was because we had kids wanting to enjoy that). Check in wasn’t until 4 pm and our rooms weren’t even ready by then. We had 2 children and a disabled person waiting for our rooms in the hallway while they vacuumed and had to steal clean towels from other rooms. An incredibly terrible disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to families with children. There are much better places for lower prices and better accommodations. Service at the pub was atrocious…..we waited an hour just to get a menu and we had to go up and get our own cutlery and drinks because the waitress kept forgetting them. I doubt we’ll go to either the hotel or pub again.

Out dated Rooms and services

Room was a mish mash of outdated furniture, small tv with hardly any channels and the internet was complete garbage, it worked than it never. Blinds on window were a joke... old and falling apart and never kept out the light, nor offered privacy. This place needs to be bulldozed. Check the room before you pay is my recommendation.

Kind-hearted and generous

I'm so grateful. My 2 young sons and I had our car break down at midnight going up the crows nest highway, with no cell service! We hitch-hiked down to the first hotel we could find and we woke the elderly owner. He charged us a nominal fee and, seeing I was hauling my sons' cellos (we had just come from a music camp), he upgraded us from a small bedroom to a groundlevel apartment style suite with kitchen, bathroom, AC, etc. Yes, it's still old and rundown, but after being stalked by an elk along a highway with a couple of 5 year olds, it's like heaven. It seems that outside of the 2000 population 'metropolis' that is Castlegar, most of these little villages have the same sort of dusty and rundown accomodations. It seems par for the course in these parts, so don't be too harsh. The owners have good souls. The AC works, the TV works, and my kids, who see beyond aging walls to the spacious safe-haven that it is, are excited to be staying 'in an apartment.'
