Good food - would recommend sitting in bar/pub room which has great character and lots of entertaining visuals....many offerings of small plates as well as specialty cocktails besides traditional dishes. Very reasonably priced and lovely service. Great music, as well. Memorable!

MarKel's Bakehouse (formerly Bah's) has been a landmark not to be missed in Castine. For over 20 years we have been well known as a unique, affordable spot to meet friends and take in the views of Castine Harbor from our deck while enjoying breakfast or lunch. Our bakehouse is known far and wide for its delicious breakfast pastries, quiche, gourmet sandwiches and casseroles, giant cookies, and amazing cakes and pies. We're also Castine's premier caterer, on or off premises, for groups from 4 to 400. The Watermark (in the downstairs of MarKel's), is MarKel's private dining room, event and catering center offering an eclectic menu with cutting edge cuisine, an extensive wine list, full bar and specialty cocktails. Available 7 days a week, The Watermark is the perfect spot to celebrate weddings, birthdays, graduations, or any special occasion. We also offer wine dinners and supper club events. Choose to sit by the wood-fired pizza oven or alfresco in the courtyard. Call for availability.

We love all of Tinder Hearth's products - breads, pizza, croissants, etc. It's a little quirky in how you can only get certain things on certain days in certain places, but that is part of it's charm!

Now in its 73rd year, this outdoor eatery on the Bagaduce River still has absolutely the best, freshest, sweetest fried clams I have ever eaten. And the onion rings are really good also. Pick a nice cool day with a breeze and eat yourself silly!

We had a fantastic experience here. We had made a reservation which that night was probably not necessary. The night we had dinner many staff members had called in and were not present. The hostess was stressed but flexible and a great sport. We even invited her to sit with us! Our waitress was exceptional. The food was excellent as well as the cocktails and the service.

Fine dining in a relaxed, casual atmosphere in the small coastal village of South Brooksville. Buck's is open from mid-May thru mid-October. Phone reservations or walk-ins only; no on-line reservations available.
We were a party of three celebrating seeing each other after two years. The restaurant was upgraded as far as I can remember from a few years back. Nice. The service was excellent wit a big smile. We all had different appetizers. Mixed Local Lettuces...MoreThank you for your detailed review of Buck's Restaurant. We appreciate knowing which dishes you enjoyed. Our dessert menu normally offers more flavor variation than chocolate. We are glad you enjoyed your dining experience and will pass your kind words on to the staff.

Traditional Downeast Take-Out made with love. Dudley's serves Real food made by Real people! We make all of our food right here, from as many local or regionally-sourced ingredients as we can find. Local farms grow our lettuce for our burgers, local farms provide the fresh eggs we fry up and top our burgers with. Our oysters are grown right in the Bagaduce River, which flows 7 feet from our kitchen! Dudley's is designed to provide the highest-quality, most-delicious food in an amazingly beautiful environment, all served up with care and a smile! We might be slower than you are used to , but we think good food is worth the wait!
Definitely stop here if you're in the area. I had the best lobster roll during my visit to Maine, and it was something like $15 and came with homemade chips and was in an oversized hot dog roll. They have a few tables facing the water which is nice, but they need more with umbrellas!
They also serve ice cream and some creative grilled cheeses. The drinks are pricey ($3 for a cop of iced tea) but its worth it for the lobster roll!

Perhaps it is new? Owner/Manager Bernard Higgins. It was a great meal and a wonderful, rustic atmosphere.
We are disappointed that this old, reliable bar has turned into a "restaurant" that now closes by 11:00 if not earlier. It used to be a gathering place; that's no longer so. We are 40-plus-years Castine residents (part time) and mourn that Danny Murphy has chosen to change the old institution.
That being said, the food is OK. Their foray into Asian food is not highly successful. But the pizza is to die for! Salads and sandwiches run the gamut in between.

The food was outstanding and the location perfect. The dining area is huge with a choice of bright window views, a larger room with piano and other entertainments or in the bar area which is very cozy and friendly.

If you get a chance and need to be at peace, please visit the Castine Inn in Castine Maine. The best breakfast of colossal homemade scones and fresh fruit and yogurt did my heart good. Beautiful, peaceful and restful. Just like being at Grannies house.
