We called at this Osteria for Pranzo just after we had arrived in C d L as it was close to where we were staying. First impressions were of a traditional small family owned restaurant with lots of pictures of the local area around the lake stretching back to the early 20th century. What followed was a meal where the ingredients spoke for themselves and were prepared simply and sympathetically by someone who obviously loves food. (like me) Roberto introduced himself at the end of the meal after I had commented on how good it was to his wife who serves up the food. We had quite a long chat about it although as our Italian is not that advanced we could not avoid the coccasional consult with Google translate. He explained about the rare breed pig (Cinta Sinese) he sources from the region of Siena inTuscany which has now been given DOP status. Forget bland, white (often dry) meat we have become used to when eating pork. This is completely different and delicious and a cross between Cingiale (Wild Boar ) and domestic pig. The animals are reared in the semi-wild and forage for sweet and bitter acorns, tubers and tuffles. The Starter platter of Prosciutto, Salami, Capo Collo all from this breed is outstanding and if served up by top London restaurants would probably cost a fortune We live in neighbouring Marche where salumi is also good but the rare breed of pork used here and the subtle use of fennel in Tuscan Salumi elevated it to something really special. The pork menu alone should make this place a must visit. Roberto also cooks lake fish, such as perch, persico and carp (the latter not really my cup of tea but , nevertheless well prepared and roasted with pork 'lardo' and fennel for those that DO like it) which we tried on or 2nd visit just before we returned home after our 4 day break.. I was surprised how quiet Trasimeno was (mid July) and even more surprised how quiet this restaurant was at lunchtime on a Friday. Given all of the above, the prices were modest and, this Osteria deserves a wider and bigger audience than it appears to have at the moment based on our two visits particularly with the produce on offer. Will certainly be back on our next visit. Cannot wait!Grazieeeee un saluto grande da Agnese,Roberto

Family run restaurant on the hills. The pasta with fish eggs was absolutely amazing. They only open on request so make sure you call for a reservation. Well worth the effort - make sure you finish off with the homemade limoncello

Absolutely best beef ever, with very modern and uncommon style of serving. Also the wines are very, very good, and strong. The restaurant is also very nice and the waiter/owner very helpful. But cannot speak English, you have to practise the Italian :o)Make a reservation in advance. They are closed on Mondays.Defenitely the best beef tartar and beef sashimi ever.

One of my favorite places to eat. No... my most favorite place to eat. Great food, traditional but not overly simple, reasonable priced. Try the appetizer's plate for two people, but don't plan for a full meal after it!Even the Pizza is excellent and biiigg!

You can try the local wines but also the best italian producers. Come to our Enoteca to eat the real typical products, we produce it directly since 1969, don't waste your time with who talks too much!
We stopped to enjoy a wine tasting and sample some delicious cheeses and meats. Excellent way to unwind for an hour and the wine & food were terrific too Dear Peter F,we would like to say thank you and we'll try to get your best evaluation next time.Hope to see you soon!

Restaurant with garden. You might do in here cooking classes at the Cooking school Trasimeno
On every occasion when new people are introduced to this restaurant, they go back. The changing seasonal menu is a gastronomic delight. Whether the produce is of the land, sea or lake it is extremely tasty and wonderfully cooked. It is complimented by sensibly priced wine. The service is excellent. If I were to make a criticism, it would be that Francesca, the proprietor/chef, does not visit tables and therefore misses out on very favourable feedback.

This town is truly stunning peppered with quality shops and restaurants. We were spoiled for choice, but settled for this restaurant & and were not disappointed! Everything about the restaurant spoke quality. This was one of the very few restaurants that Iâve had cheese fondue! Cured meats and bean Zuppa featured, but I settled for the Mozzarella di Bufala salad .

This is (among other things) a great spot to take a lunch break when driving the A1. It's easy to reach, the food is excellent and it's cheap. We had good pastas (inc. vongole, as it was on the weekend) and tagliati.
