In the last few years I have had dinner at this restaurant a few times. The location is charming, the garden, attractive, the decor elegant and the chairs rather uncomfortable. The surprise lies with the food which can be either good or less than mediocre. The reason is that good chefs tend to quit and they therefore keep promoting ambitious sous chefs. These young chefs want to emerge and try very hard but unfortunately the result is simply not good. On the last occasion there was a loathsome touch of nouvelle added to traditional dishes. The raviolis were hard and tasteless, the cod was "decorated" with balsamic vinegar, the eggplant mousse tasteless and the dessert made you regret you had asked for it. What a pity considering that service was kind and friendly and the Chianti Classico was delectable!

Il Ristoro di Ama is set in a Tuscan house with antique furniture and modern elements. It's a wonderful way to try the wines of Castello di Ama paired with fantastic cuisine. Tuesday closed.
We made an email reservation for lunch about a month in advance because we wanted an outdoor table on the terrace. When we visited, in early October, many tables were available so we could have easily walked in as well. Once seated outdoors, we were suprised to find that the terrace didn't have a view, as other's have stated in their reviews. The terrace had an internal view of the hamlet buildings with white drapery blocking the intense sun. Even in October the sun was blaring hot, too hot to sit outside at midday. We requested to move inside and were quickly accomodated. The indoor dining area is split up into many lovely rooms decorated with modern touches. We loved the juxtaposition of the extremely old historic castle decorated with modern lighting, furniture, fabrics, etc.The lunch menu was great; so many items to choose from. We wanted to order them all!Outstanding dishes were the lasagna and beef cheeks stewed in red wine. Oh, and the wine is incredible! We each ordered different wines by the glass to accompany our lunch because we wanted to sample them all. After lunch, we went down to the Enoteca to try a glass of the L'apparita, which we shared overlooking the vineyard. The Enoteca faces the vineyard, however, the lunch terrace did not. Definitely save time to stroll around the tiny medieval hamlet. It's it truly gorgeous!.The experience was first class and we will definitely go back on our next trip to Chianti Classico region. It was one of the top memorable meals of our trip. Also, you can buy candles and room frangrances in the Enoteca Shop to take home! This restaurant is not for the tourist masses; it's a unique experience!

We stepped into Piccolo Chianti on a cold Tuscan autumn evening, not fully knowing what to expect. This place exceeded all our expectations . The ambience and decor convey a cozy feeling .. Tuscan hospitality at its best . The freshly made tagliatelle and ravioli just melt in the mouth . Escpecially recommended if you are new to the area and don't have a prior reservation .

During our recent stay at Borgo Argenina, our host Elena Nappa arranged for a special dinner at this wonderful restaurant. "Giorgio" picked us up at our villa and drove us to the restaurant, unknown to us at the moment that he was also the Chef! Giorgio served a 5-course dinner, including a meat, cheese, olives and bread appetizer, followed by pasta with truffles, then "rocket" salad, pork and potatoes, and finally dessert. Every dish was "bursting with flavor"! In particular, the pasta with truffles was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten! Along with the delicious dinner was wonderful red wine that was an excellent complement to the meal. Thank you Giorgio for preparing this amazing dinner! Anyone staying in the area should take the opportunity to enjoy a meal with Giorgio!

Failing to get in here on a Saturday made us think it might be special but basically everywhere, it turned out, is busy then. When we went midweek we were the only diners for a while. The menu is on the basic side and what we had was fine but not exciting. Rustic and tasty sums it up.

We were a group of 11 and sat on the enclosed porch section. Lovely meal and the wait staff was accommodating and helpful. We chose this place because we were staying rather close by but, having eaten there, would happily go back. I have read other reviews and don't understand ...everyone was very nice to us - we were clearly speaking English and were a mixed group of Americans, Swiss, German and Canadians. The chef spoke to me when I went to look at the kitchen (spectacular wood burning stove!). All in all a solid choice.

we visited with friends Tuscany, stayed a bit in Florence , Sienna and Castelnuovo Berardenga, deep , original Tuscany. A charming and very professional receptionist for our wonderful hotel recommended the La bottega del 30. It was one of the warmest gastronomic experience I ever had. Helene , the owner is a fairy tale book. A colorful life of love, great food and fantastic respect for the clients . Everything reminds you about your grandma's kitchen, the first cooking instruments, the books , old photos on the wall.It is from an old tale with great cooks, fantastic recipes and only good things. Once inside the inn only positive things can happen to you, Helene will tell you her life story, a beautiful young Parisian who after finishing Sorbonne fall in love with the handsome Italian and move to Sienna where they decide to open a small restaurant ...and the whole village conspire to their dream. And the story goes on. If you will visit the BOTTEGA DEL 30 you will discover where the story is today, because is a never ending tale. But you also will discover one of the best home made raviolis with ricotta and spinach made in an absolutely unique way. But no matter what you will choose it will be a delight, the whole history of Tuscany will be in your plate. Grandiose yet simple , majestic but popular , smooth but with personality. We had a wonderful evening with a lot of laughter and full of Helen's heartwarming stories . Do not miss the sensational desert, like pistachio parfait. Unreal , from another time, everything is from a book and once there you will be part of the story.I will go back for sure Thank you Helene, mercie de tout mon coeur P.s The restaurant is one of the longest Michelin star restaurant in Italy , got start 20 years ago

There is only one drawback: The Menu. The chef has decided to offer a menu that is filled with unique animal body parts (e.g. heart) and unique blends (e.g. gnocchi with herring and parsley). There are very few traditional Italian, Tuscan or Chianti favorites. Everything else about the restaurant is AMAZING including the kind and knowledgeable waiter/host, the modern interior design, the handmade drinking glasses and dinnerware, the scrumptious breads and the service. Would I dine here again? Probably not until the menu changes. Would I recommend it? No.

This is an average restaurant serving basic local dishes. Fine if you are local, but not worth a special visit. Maybe we were disappointed after all the glowing previous reviews. It is OK, but not special. There are better restaurants a few miles away.
Where to eat Contemporary food in Vercurago: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Me and my friend stayed in Siena for two weeks and weâve been to this place several times. It is a very special place as it isnât touristy at all!! When you order an aperol spritz (3,5â¬) or wine you will get food (for example peanuts, foccacia, bruschetta, fried potatoes) with it for free!! The staff is extraordinarily friendly!! The spot is very nice because you can watch locals at the bar on the other side of the street or just people walking by and thereâs also a very nice fountain! We can highly recommend and would always come back!!
