Perfect for Caruaru
Reviewed By Lisa DThe two of us stayed for several nights while working with local church folk. Hotel staff were cheerful and as helpful as possible especially when room key-cards kept failing. They just don't get English speakers in this part of the country, so the Portuguese for Dummies book came in handy. Room was comfy, clean, air conditioned. It was on the first floor (i.e., 'first floor above the lobby'), adjacent to the tiny pool deck and thus susceptible to happy pool noise. If this bothers you, don't ask for room 101. We had to remember to not put toilet paper in the toilet but rather in the adjacent bin. Breakfast was bountiful, especially if you like gorgeous tropical fruit, eggs, cakes, deli meats and cheeses, self-served in an open, cheerful room with a variety of wall-mounted TVs airing interesting shows. Bring your own salt to breakfast, but expect to find every kind of sweetener known to humanity. The lobby made a good ad hoc meeting space, one evening. This Citi Hotel Premium location was a few short blocks away from Caruaru's main multi-level shopping mall, an easy walk. On check-out the clerk quickly repaired incorrect bottled-water charges, and we were on our way. We'd go back.

Reviewed By Rogers222Caruaru is a town in the rural interior of Brazil, two hours from the city of Recife. Visitors may find themselves there for rural tourism, for the city's June "St. John" festival, or on business visiting the (literally) thousands of textile and clothing factories in the area. The WA Hotel isn't awful, but it's not much. It's attached to one of the town's nicer shopping malls, so there is food, a cinema and improbably a bowling alley just downstairs. It's a pretty standard economy class hotel, small rooms that are simply appointed, relatively clean but nothing special. There is a free breakfast, but the dining room staff is undertrained is keeps forgetting to bring items out or set up the coffee or one thing or another. The wifi system is pretty good, a strong signal, but then the day I left, the whole wifi system was out of service, and the front desk couldn't even print out my bill, so maybe it's not so good after all. There is an odd elevator system, they have four elevators but one is used exclusively to bring guests from the ground floor to the reception desk, while another is used exclusively to bring guests from the reception area up to their rooms. The other two elevators are not used at all. It's awkward and inconvenient. The key cards are always getting demagnetized. It happened to me three times in a three-day stay, and it happened to every person in my group at least once. Frustrating and time consuming to have to run down to the front desk to get the card re-activated. The clerk always asks what the guest did to demagntize the card, as though their crappy card system is the guest's fault. What he or she should do is apologize three times, re-activate the card, and then apologize again. Overall, it's not a great hotel, but I'm not sure there's anything better in this city.

Reviewed By R00cattRoom was large, good shower, quiet, clean. No mosquitoes (+), no CNN (-). Dinner in large dining room with view of the highway, only alcohol was awful red wine (disappointing). Breakfast buffet in same room was generous, lots of good fruit, servers helpful. A fine overnight on the way to elsewhere.

A Hotel with no First Aid kit, but charges $5 for an extra towel per day-keep away!
Reviewed By hidden01We reserved the best room in the Hotel, which would be pretty basic in a normal Hotel, no safe provided, TV flickering, feels like you are watching a 3D film without the special glasses, breakfast poor, really poor, fruit that has gone off, poor choice of foods and poor quality of food, all around. The girls at the front desk, seem to be on forced labour, with the type of off-putting attitude, makes you think maybe they charge extra for smiles. They sure know, how to charge extra, they wanted around $5 per extra towel per day, the guy turned up with 4 towels and a note to be signed for the charge, I sent him packing with his distortion note back to where he came from, what a cheek!! However when my GF got hit with some fireworks on her leg and needed some urgent medical attention, until we could get to the near hospital, we were flatly told, that there is simply no first aid kit in the Hotel. What kind of hotel has no first aid kit, they should be banned from running a hotel, that is simply illegal, not to mention inhuman. As you could gather by now, I certainly discourage anyone from checking in to this badly managed place, which is far away from everything, actually just besides the motorway, out of town. For some odd reason, someone decided to call it a Hotel, what a disgrace!!
