The Lakeside Tavern is one of those rare pubs that also has a shop connected to it. I've visited this lovely little pub quite a few times as my Nanny is buried in the church grounds next door (sorry for the slightly morbid explanation). The staff are very friendly, and drink prices are quite reasonable.Review for August 2013.

Went here the weekend as was staying in Ballyfarnon and found it really hard to get some where close to get breakfast early (9am). This was recommended the night before by someone for dinner so said we would try it for breakfast. Very nice. Good menu. Lovely staff. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area

We were lucky to drop into this pub on Tuesday night as a singers circle gather there every Tuesday night. The singing and music was first class and as they were down at the end of the pub, they did not impose on conversation. Although, we didn't talk much as one singer was better than the other. Even if there wasn't entertainment, this pub is a lovely place to visit. It is spotlessly clean and nicely decorated, and Monica and Paddy were very welcoming. I would highly recommend a visit and I look forward to going back there when I am in the area next.

just called in for dinner,saw dinner advertised with tea and biscuits.Perfect we thought....I had to ask for the tea to which the guy said "did I want the tea bag left IN"...A very strange question given that the tea bag didnt have a tag attached!!!!The biscuits never came,it was very quiet customer wis while we were there to be honest I dont think they could be bothered.We leftnever to return......

Visited the Anchorage multiple times with a stag for a weekend and stayed in the accommodation above. Great cosy pub. Staff were sound out. The accommodation was perfect for a stag. Would highly recommend a few pints in the Anchorage.

Looked like an interesting place to have lunch, but that was it. The service was so slow, no one seemed interested in waiting on tables. Menu is limited with a few selections and then just listed sandwiches and toasties. I asked what kind of sandwiches and was told ham and cheese. Everyone else ordered fish and chips and I ordered the ham and cheese. After almost a half hour the food comes. Greasy fish and chips and the sandwich which consisted of 1 piece of ham and 1 piece of cheese on 2 pieces of white bread. On the plate were 3, just 3 Pringles. It was a disgrace for $7.99 Euros. We were on a time schedule and had no time to complain. Others from our tour came in and either left or had the same treatment. We had to track down the server for the check. Worst experience we had on our 13 day trip to Ireland, in fact, worst food ever!!!!

Recently visited the Barge Inn in Leitrim Village. I ordererd the chicken fillet burger thinking it was a fillet in a bun. It was in fact chicken coated in breadcrumbs in a bun. Although it was quite nice I found I was unable to finish it as it was very filling. All in all the service was very good and my daughter enjoyed her pasta dish also.

A modern Hotel in a great location on the River Shannon.Lovely views from the bar, open air deck and dining room looking west over the marina and surrounding countryside.Food served in the bar area is top class with a special recommendation for the Friday night steak offer...Steak and trimmings with your drink for 20 euro.There are very few locations on the river to beat this bar.It is big...modern...without giving you the feeling that you are in a barn.Music here some weekends with spotless rooms and apartments available.Super location for a wedding.Children's play area in the carpark.Dear Kieran, wow what an amazing descriptive review. Dropped in on a Saturday night, really nice place, cool layout, interior and a nice crowd compared to other places in the town over run by stags and hens, this place seemed to attract more locals then anything which was great. Nice smoking area / beer garden too. Bit of live music made for a good night. Definitely one of the better, classier places for a drink in Carrick. Hi David,Always a pleasure, never a chore! We tried this restaurant for the first time this week. The decor was nice and the staff were really friendly and polite. We ordered the speciality burger, the nachos and the kids had Spaghetti Bolognais. The kids enjoyed the Bolognaise but the other food was just OK. My advice to the chef would be to keep it simple. The meat in the burger itself was good but there was just too much else going on. A good burger brings our the taste of the burger not smothers it. The nachos again were too busy. Serve the nachos with the toppings on the side not heaped on top. On the plus side the table opposite ordered steaks which looked really good. Next time I will go for the steak!!!
