Things to do in Anasco
This is my second time to the Sargaso Fish House. It is located on Reparto Playa in Anasco. My first visit was during the day, but this time I went at night. There were about half a dozen locals there just hanging out. The people were friendly and the prices were good. Their English is not great, so some broken Spanish might be in order. I was able to communicate without any difficulty.I would recommend going during the day, as there is a large sandy beach and a boat launch. Many beaches on the island are very narrow and do not have much room to spread out. This beach is very wide with lots of clean sand. Also the water is not very deep and there were no waves to speak of, which is good if you have young kids that want to splash around a bit.I ordered a fish empanadilla, which was fresh and very very hot. I liked the flavor and could taste the fresh cilantro. It was filled with flaky fish and well seasoned. Some places tend to skimp on the filling, but there was a good portion in mine. The other diners also seemed pleased with their meals.

This place is on a hill as you enter the Anasco area on Route 115 (heading south from Rincon). It is the first place on the hill. We have been here 2x's. The first time we just had drinks and check out the menu. They make great Mojitos - about $5. The next time we went with friends and we had drinks & lunch. The food was good - your typical PR selections - Pinchos, Empanadillas, Asapao, Plantons, etc. Service was good too. This is an informal place - not fancy. There is a new deck in back of the bar with some high tables and an awesome view of Anasco- Mayaguez bay. Upstairs there is a dining area with the same great views too. This restaurant was re-done after hurricane Maria, and they did a great job rebuilding! We met the owners, and they were super nice.If you are looking for a place with views, resonable prices, and nice people, check it out.You will enjoy.

Seated right away. Server seemed as though she was pre occupied too much to care about assisting us. We were hoping for a authentic Hispanic meal but what we got were undercooked coconut shrimp, rubbery steak, and frozen vegetable mofongo. We found the prices to be quite high for the quality of food they are dishing out. I wouldn't suggest this restaurant to others, nor would I visit again.

Mahi Mahi Restaurant
Stopped for quick dinner and was positively impressed. Catch of day was red smapper and wahoo. Had a Mofongo relleno filled with really fresh wahoo. Normally, they do creole with red sauce. In my opinion there is no space for red sauce and fish. Had it garlic style; Al Ajillo....excellent. Those two Medallas were cracking cold. Was a very good meal and reasonable.
