The Welsh capital may have begun its life as a Roman fort, but it's since become a bustling city. Where the fort once stood, Cardiff Castle has held court since the 11th century. It remains a central presence in the city, now full of lively art and music venues, hip boutiques, fun bars and modern hotels. Even with so many new and exciting things to see, the National History Museum is still the most visited attraction in Wales. Don't be the only visitor who plays hooky!

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Our dog was also made to feel very welcome and had her own ‘dogs dinner’ in the restaurant with us! We ate in the restaurant and were really impressed with the variety and quality of the food. We had starters, mains, pudding and cheese (which we never normally do) because it was so delicious! Breakfast was very delicious too.

Small friendly in Cardiff City Centre. 300m from Cardiff Castle and overlooking the river. The Central Bus and Train Station is a 10 minute walk along the riverbank. All the main attractions including the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Motorpoint Arena and all the shops and restaurants are just a few minutes walk from our door.
Excellent location 5-10 min walk from the centre, but far enough for a quiet stay. We booked a double bed with ensuite; the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. Great value for money compared to other hotels and guesthouses in the surrounding area. TV had streaming options such as YouTube and Netflix. Only negatives were the bathroom window was stuck and would not open, and there was not quite enough toilet roll provided. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely return.

Elgano always gives a warm welcome. Situated within walking distance of the City Centre, Millenium and Swalec Stadiums and beautiful Sophia Gardens. All rooms are en-suite, modern, and comfortable.
Booked a twin room with my daughter. The room was lovely, airy and roomy. We was in cardiff to see Ed Sheeran and the hotel was on a lovely quiet road and only a 15 minute walk from the stadium. Would definitely recommend. Only downside was no breakfast available.

Who are we? That's a difficult one to answer. That's because we're not the usual city hotel or guest house. In fact, there's nothing remotely 'usual' about us. -We're a dignified Victorian town-house with funky, fashionable 21st-century accommodation -Our rooms and suites are bold and beautiful -We're setting new standards in Cardiff, Wales's capital city -Our approach is different from the rest -We'll look after your every need (think optional butler service, personal chef and a chauffeured Rolls-Royce) -Or, if you prefer, you can look after yourself (some of our rooms have state-of-the-art kitchens) -Expect the highest levels of service -But we don't do stuffiness - we're relaxed and laid-back when it comes to atmosphere and ambience -We serve afternoon tea the proper, traditional way - then transform ourselves into a trendy piano bar in the evening
Owners are awful people. Worst place ever. Do not stay here. Tried to play games and got found out. Watch out for the South African lady as she will push you over a cliff when your back is turned.....

The Spires Cardiff are modern serviced apartments located in the heart of Wales's capital city. With a mix of studio, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments all with full kitchens these are ideal for both leisure and business travellers. Book with no minimum length of stay.
Had a hotel booked in Cardiff centre until we decided to change to the spires a few weeks before our visit and I'm so glad we did! This is a great little place that I can't fault at all! First of all the location is fantastic, around the corner from the castle and centre yet far enough away to not be disturbed by any noise. We stayed in room 14 and it was lovely. Very modern room with absolutely everything you need including a cork screw which came in very handy! The room was more than spacious enough with a kitchen area and seating area. Best shower you'll ever have in a hotel, great bed and pillows, really good TV which we connected our fire stick to using the spires Internet which is also really great! The manger who i contacted a few times was really nice, never seemed annoyed when contacting him for different bits of information and let us stay on the car park for a few extra hours so we could do our last bit of sight seeing. All in all a really lovely place. Only negative for me is we have tried to book to come back in both July and September and it's fully booked! Can't wait to come back to the city and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

Dreadful. Dated. Left in the doldrums with no atmosphere, slow service, awful food and sooo behind what a modern pub needs to be! Drab 90’s feel. Old tables chairs and layout. Old pubs now look cool when they are modernised by being sympathetic to the building with a decor and furniture and layout for what customers want. Think the Beverley in Pontcanna. Look at the Lounges chain. Food is no longer pub grub! Move on. Think tapas and cool food! There are so many good examples around. The Malsters lived off its old school rep of expensive and classy for the older generation but pub restaurants are now multi generational and broad appeal. Casual quality dining is the future. Llandaff village has awful pubs and pretentious restaurants do this could be a goldmine.

Check in very easy, just get a text message with the pin code for the door. The location is great, a 10 min walk into the city centre. Parking is ok, can park outside it’s pay and display and not to expensive. Bedroom was small but very modern and clean, There was no handsoap or toiletries in the bathroom, as I arrived just after 6pm there was no one to ask for it, the following day after I asked though it was sorted. The TV didn’t work for the duration of the stay. Slept awful but that was more to the other guests slamming doors and shouting on the landing at 3am

Hubby and I did a spontaneous overnight stay in Cardiff... First visit so unaware of the many reasonable options for good accommodation in Cardiff. This is not one of them.... Best to be avoided unless you are happy to pay £80 for a very basic, hostel style room with a shower that is no more than a hand shower which is either scalding hot or icy cold. Toilet has literally no flush to it. Would definitely not stay again... Way better options out there.
