This Michelin starred restaurant has an atmosphere of charm and grace, with views towards the hotel gardens and the ramparts of Carcassonne. La Barbacane offers a wide range of tempting dishes, created with imagination, flair and artistry by Executive Che
First ImpressionsLocated in the heart of Carcassonneâs walled city inside Hotel de la Cité, La Barbacane restaurant has a Neo-Gothic dining room that will leave you enchanted with its superb fireplace, its stained glass windows, its high ceilings and its cathedral chairs. This authentic setting along with friendly professional staff give you a warm hearty welcome The Food & ServiceThe food here is flavoursome, colourful cuisine created by chef Jérôme Ryon and the cuisine showcases the key ingredients including fish and vegetables from the mediterranean region, as well as products from the region bringing a boldness to the classics. We tasted delicious dishes Mediterranean Mullet carpaccio, Goats curd in smoked ham, Butter roasted hanger steak & sweetbreads, Trout soufflé and delicious deserts. The service was excellent, warm friendly and nothing was too much trouble. OverallI enjoyed a great lunch here, great food with a service to match and when we arrived we relaxed in the cocktail bar and enjoyed signature cocktails whilst we browsed the menu, a great start to our experience. I would not hesitate in returning. Service- 10/10The Food- 9/10Value for Money - 10/10. The lunch cost £46 per person inc wine Would I return - YES

Fantastic dinner which we all enjoyed. Stand out dish for me was my tuna starter. Best thing for us was that our 11 year old son coukd have the same courses as us, but smaller size and half price. He loved it.Great ambience. Need to book.We got a taxi back to carcassonne near Old Bridge. Cost 10 euros but we had a long wait for taxi.Definitely recommended.

New restaurant which is part of Chateau Palaja, but under separate management
Ate here 3 times as it was next to the hotel we stayed at, and it avoided the 10 minute drive to Carcassonne. Many classic dishes, served efficiently and in a friendly way; would have preferred some more variation on the menu

Tonight we ate a fantastic meal at this restaurant, perhaps one of the best fish dishes I have ever eaten and wonderful deserts of apricot and chocolate. Unfortunately our experience was spoilt by half a dozen flies which persistently irritated my husband who, in turn, irritated me! All in all we felt that this restaurant has huge potential with great food in a fabulous setting. But it was very quiet despite being late July (just 7 customers all evening) which meant that the service was good but the atmosphere lacking.

I decided to stop for lunch before getting to Carcassonne and stopped herz, discovered the numerous canal-side eateries and picked Le Quai .The menu was ⬠18 and my selection was dried slices of duck breast ( with salad ), faux-filet steak with chips, and a crème citron. All as it should be , with a pichet of local red and enjoying the canal-side vibe. the noise I mentioned was from cars and motor-bikes , as there is a junction at the end of the road which occasions this, plus some vehicles driving (slowly ) along the quay-side.

Ok, so our last night in Trebes and we decided on this place. The owner was in and he spoke good English, just as well as our French was non existent. The first bottle of wine came which was from there family vineyard (he is the fifth generation owner) and it was great. The first round of tapas came, all 5 dishes for four of us and it was WOW, so wow that we ordered another five and a bit more wine. Great evening never to be forgotten, great vibe and the staff are passionate about the work, highly recommend.

I like to write positive reviews. I rarely slam, and never without reason. This place was stunningly bad. The staff seemed to take a strange delight in making us wait for menus, food, and especially for the check. 45 minutes of watching someone refill salt and pepper shakers.? That was just sadistic. Yes, Iâm very familiar with the local customs, and I get it that the pace is different. Thatâs not what is going on here. Hey, the pizza and salads are fine, so if you have 3 hours to kill, by all means, stop by. But you may end up feeling like youâre hanging out with the extras from One Flew Over the Cuckooâs Nest.Hello; I do not know what happened during your stay, but it all seems odd to me, but you have not fallen into an asylum of madness as you seem to describe it, although I adore as much as you do this leader. cinematographic work I will not make my reference nor to describe anyone that it would not be very elegant and to say everything very rude not very intelligent. the only logical explanation for your bad experience is that you arrived before the service and you were spectators of the establishment of the servers, with us three hours of waiting is impossible that you will sit at the table at 19h to be served at 22h.we serve a few hundred customers every night between 19h and 21h30

We had our evening meal here, being fortunate to get a table for two on a walk-in basis. The retaurant is in a very pleasant, secluded and peaceful location on the bank on the canal du midi. The drawback of this location is the risk of biting insects, so my advice would be to cover your arms and legs. There are a limited number of menu options, but what options there are are creative, thoughtful and beautifully presented. Not cheap, but not over-priced either, considering the quality. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu options and very polite.Atmosphere and ambience is excellent.
