Step back several centuries and imagine yourself in medieval times. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, La Cite at Carcassonne is a painstakingly restored medieval walled city on a hill by the Aude River. You'll half-expect to see armed lookouts manning the fortified city's towers. Cross the river to La Bastide neighborhood for all the charms of a French country town.

Having enjoyed the "Action Reaction" menu last year, we had no hesitation in revisiting it with our son and his girlfriend. It did not disappoint, offering a range of exceptionally delightful taste experiences. The staff were again extremely helpful and attentive and we would recommend a visit without a second though. A truly wonderful experience and quite possibly our best meal in France to-date.

Very unusual Restauant . We ate 2 other fine restaurants in Carcassone. Very fine but typical. this is on the edge of town in a weird housin development by train tracks, looks like a remodeled home with pool in front. Inside decorated mix of modern black white and lots of glass. We found it very romantic in a quirky way. Food was also beautifully prepared, as gorgeous as in a 2 star Restauant but at a bargain price of 32 E for 4 courses! Food was wonderful except my steak with foie gras truffle sauce was a bit tough. Everything else superb. Great evening.

This Michelin starred restaurant has an atmosphere of charm and grace, with views towards the hotel Gardens and the ramparts of Carcassonne.

La Barbacane offers a wide range of tempting dishes, created with imagination, flair and artistry by Executive Chef Jerome Ryon.
Despite the fact that La Barbacane lost a Michelin star beginning of 2017, this restau-rant is still the absolute top in Carcassonne. Maybe Michelin has judged that 3 Michel-in star restaurants in a city of 50.000 inhabitants is excessive ?
I've made a reservation at La Barbacane for the 3 course lunch (39 euro/pp), including 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee … exactly 1 euro extra than 3 years ago. Visit the website of La Barbacane, make your reservation for free and receive your confirma-tion in seconds.
Stylish and elegant restaurant of Hotel de la Cité, the very best hotel and restaurant between the City Walls. Inside or outside dining. Impeccable service and high quality food. The lunch menu changes every 2 weeks (see website). You can make your choice between 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts. Take your coffee and your 3 coffee amuses outside at the courtyard of the hotel (if weather permits).
A glass of champagne L.P. + 3 amuses before your lunch : 15€ (not included in lunch price).

We had made a reservation for this restaurant which was just as well as people were being turned away. Following a day wine tasting we weren’t that hungry but thoroughly enjoyed a steak each, cooked to perfection followed by a chocolate mousse gateau which was yummy, together with a bottle of Viognier total cost €62. Very friendly waiter who made us very welcome, to be recommended

A family business rooted in the City whose reputation is honoured in the greatest guides.Charming, elegant, cordial welcome in this little restaurant, which serves simple and tasty regional cooking. You can enjoy various specialities according to the seasons, followed by the best wines of the region. On sunny days you can have dinner in the inner patio. To share with your friends the pleasure of a traditional cuisine we offer gift vouchers
We ate outdoors in the peaceful walled sunken courtyard. Service was good and the food first rate. Lamb was really excellent and particularly enjoyed the wine: Chateau Ollieux Romanis-Classique. Not impressed by some of the restaurant’s responses to diners who weren’t totally happy though!

Though Le Cite is very commercial..locals appear to be the main people eating at this restaurant..wonderful local fare..not expensive..good wines by the glass. As a solo traveller they were very accomodating and helpful
Tucked away down one of the quieter and untouristy streets at the “far end” of La Cite, this restaurant lived up to Tripadvisor reports well. The ancient stone walls within the wooden tardis-like vestibule are attractive as is the simple and traditional decor.
Good value (for carcassonne) fayre not entirely focussed on cassoulet, creme broulee etc. Got stung for an expensive bottle of wine from the Carte des Vin as forgot to ask for “house wine” - our fault.
We didn’t book on a Friday night in October but I’d imagine it is essential during the summer.

Yes, people were out standing in the street, waiting to get into this wonderful little restaurant. There is a huge selection of savoury crepes and they are so beautifully presented and delicious. Even the side salad comes in a little cup-shaped crepe. The waiter was friendly and it was amazing to see him manage the whole restaurant on his own. Don't miss it!

We visited this place based on trip advisor reviews. Wondered where we were headed at times as we walked out of town but then we came across this busy restaurant. Food was beautiful - lasagna and fish mains followed by desert. Local wine was good. Would really recommend it- away from the commercial hustle and bustle of Carcasonne.

Family food, home made from fresh products. Every Thursday you can enjoy our couscous : it is the only meal proposed on a fixed day and it is highly recommended to order the day before. Children menu: 1/2 portion of an adult dish of the day or chopped steak, with an ice cream as dessert.
We have been with mother in law, so quite a challenge for the kitchen to convince.. finally everybody has been satisfied by the lunch menu with only a few remarks.. in general very good food and very nice hospitality

Ouvert Du Mercredi Au Dimanche (le Soir Uniquement) .
By far one the best pizzas I've had (and I've had a lot!) Not within walking distance if you are staying in the Cite or town centre but worth getting the car out and getting there early (it fills up quickly).
Four of us had different pizzas and although some were priced at 14/15 Euros each, they were well worth it and if you want to they will box up any leftovers so would make a great free breakfast the next day.
Looking forward already to a return visit one day.
