Reviews on European food in Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkey. A town literally carved into the volcanic rock, Goreme is the gateway to the Goreme National Park, a vast UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses spectacular 10th- and 11th-century cave churches. The park itself is known for its chimney rock formations and is very popular with backpackers. It’s also a great area to sample Turkish cuisine and wine.

We read the review in Lonely Planet and were very keen to try this place. We were turned away the first time as we did not have a reservation. They did not even bother to ask if we wanted a reservation another time. We noticed that they are small (hence always full), highly rated and hence have that air of superiority. In any case we called and made a reservation the following day. The staff seated us and served us in a timely manner. The kebab pot was good and tasty. The tomatoes-chick peas-beef dish was tasteless and lacked the tomatoes and had very little beef. That was disappointing. We ordered a nice, expensive bottle of wine and were promised a 2012 vintage. However they brought out a 2017 vintage and it was fine. In the dark interior I read it as 2012, but when we took the remainder to our hotel room realized that it was 2017. I would overall rate the food and service as average, the attitude of the staff as businesslike and the interior as tasteful and well decorated with local furnishings.

This local restaurant is elegant yet casual and affordable. A little higher price than other places but still very reasonable and worth every lira. Have the baklava! Itâs very tasty. I had the chicken in saffron sauce and it was absolutely amazing! So fragrant, perfectly cooked in aluminum foil, tender and juicy. My friend had the 3-course meal with penne arrabiata, more like a 5-course meal! First they bring sundried tomatoes and olives with bread. Then your meal, and dessert. Order the amazing baklava, each order is SIX pieces! Split it between two people. They also bring an assortment of fruit. Now hereâs the interesting part ... the owner is Cuban so the music is not traditional Turkish. We loved it!!!! A beautiful restaurant with wonderful food and service! Sorry we didnât take more pictures!!!

We arrived around 2PM. It was empty but people started to come after a while. We had wine so we didnât try the food but the menu seemed good. The environment is friendly and so is the service. The glass of wine was very generous. The view is cool as well. Good music. Definitely worth a try

A short walk from our hotel we gave this place a go as it had a good vibe as we walked past the night before. The service was excellent, we were well looked after and the staff were really friendly and chatted to us a few times during the meal. In what appears to be Turkish style as the bread and dips were brought out, a few seconds later our starter arrived. Followed by the main shortly after. Not a problem with the style of food we ordered as it all went together (could have been annoying if you had a bigger starter to eat).Highly recommend the sausage, which was cut like a large salami slice and was stuffed chilli peppers and nuts. All the food was really good.Thank you so much for your beautiful comments and your suggestions. We hope you will come again to Cappadocia and come to our restaurant. Hope to see you again :)

Went to this cave restaurant twice for dinner. Loved the Testi pottery chicken kebab served in a pot with flames and grilled fish. Yummy and the bread there was fresh, wine was great too. Excellent service. My cat radar goes into the action everywhere in Cappadocia. Unfortunately, there is a resident cat in the restaurant. Thanks so much that serving staff were so helpful to look out furry animals and the restaurant manager, Seno Nomadic hid the resident cat in his car. I survived by showing this âkediden korkuyorumâ to the locals.
