I tasted Fig Marscapone ice cream with ginger cocoa dust, but decided to go with the chocolate, which was the very best, and richest, creamiest chocolate ice cream I ever ate in my 55 years! My daughter loved her cookies and cream ice-cream, and my son enjoyed the vanilla ice-cream he got. The lovely cashier said that their vanilla is out of this world. The bathroom is very nice, and they sell some creative signs in their gift shop, such as the bumper sticker my daughter bought: "Life's short. Pet the dog. Eat the ice cream."

Second time eating here with friends. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgable and willing to make changes for picky eaters.
But the quality of the food is average and is overpriced. $24 for a dozen oysters. Mid-teens for most lunch selections. $5-6 for a cup of soup. ( Clam chowder was good however as was the crab cake sandwich).

Even as a small girl growing up in Texas, the proprietor, Jone Gittinger, had a life-long interest in Russian culture and the Dacha Tea Room is the culmination of that interest. Jone hosts each tea personally, and is quick to point out the importance of the Samovar — the symbol of hospitality in a Russian home — in the Russian tea experience. Jone has several Samovars, but really uses only one. She explains how the water is heated in the bottom half of the samovar, while the teapot on top is filled with a very strong tea concentrate. Throughout the tea experience, she is a font of information about Russian culture (not politics). Since Dacha is the Russian word for summer home, and Cape Charles is has a large summer home community, she chose the name Dacha Tea for her Russian Tea House. Jone uses locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs as much as possible at her tea house, as well as exclusive items only available from local vendors. Our tea began with a quick lesson in how to “steam” Russian tea, of which we had a choice of three — . Czar Nicholas II, Caravan Tea and Royal Tea. The latter had a citrusy flavor, not fully appreciated until paired with the cabbage salad. Czar Nicholas II has elements of fruit and berries and compliments desserts well. But the star of the show was definitely the Caravan Tea, which I admit has been a little intimidating in the past because I have been warned that the “smoky” essence could be overpowering. It was not. In fact, it was smooth and full bodied. For our first course we enjoyed Ukrainian Borscht, Russian Chicken Chowder, Dacha Salad (locally sourced fermented cabbage, apples and carrots), and Russian Beet Salad served with hearty bread and butter. This was followed by a savory course of Beef Stroganoff, Eggplant Caviar and Dragomir Forshmak — a casserole of ham, potatoes, sour cream and minced pickle. We finished our tea with a sweets course of Russian Spice Cake, Svetlana’s Fig Cake and Korzinki — tartlets with lemon curd and whip cream and a Russian blessing. Everything was delicious. Really! Best surprises of each course were, first, the Dacha Salad, which was a little like sauer kraut and a little like kimche and like nothing I’ve ever tasted. Second, the Eggplant Caviar, which I didn’t think I would like, but did! Last, but not least, Svetlana’s Fig Cake stole the show. It was like a cross between a cake and a bar cookie, but so much more delicate and, again, like nothing else I’ve ever had. If you find yourself in the Cape Charles area, I strongly recommend that you take some time out for afternoon tea at the Dacha Tea. It is a thoroughly unique experience.

It was very tasty and very popular. Definitely worth listing.
We stopped in for a nice breakfast to cap our weekend stay in Cape Charles. The atmosphere was very nice, and I have no complaints about the service. However, the water served tasted very bad. I had a standard eggs, toast, bacon breakfast that was, in my opinion, overpriced, especially given the portion sizes - one slice of toast, hashbrowns that came from a freezer bag (with an upcharge as a substitute for a meager portion of fruit). The atmosphere was great, but the food quality and portion sizes were not comparable to the price.

Full bar, live entertainment, harbor front outdoor seating, available dock space and creative daily specials made for and by people who are truly passionate about food and excellent service!
Fresh for the season and ready to greet guests. Menu is a nice mix of sandwiches, apps etc with Asian and southwestern fusion (sesame slaw, fish tacos, great guac and chips) but disappointingly short on seafood options, esp local ones. Fish in the blackened tacos was cod, even though this area is known for great local fish. Nice that they offer veggies and other options as alternative to fries. Tablemate liked the burger. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Fresh baked breads & desserts daily. Bistro style atmosphere with waitstaff serving dinner starting at 5pm Tuesday thru Saturday. Always fresh, local ingredients. Dinner menu changes weekly. Reservations strongly suggested for dinner. Beer & Wine offered on/off premise. Full Bar.
We enjoyed a crab and fish dish on a quiet mid-week evening at this cosy bistro. We got the impression that the kitchen closes for orders earlier than in bigger cities so you should not go out to dinner too late

We had a Caesar salad and a shecrab soup, plus Irish whiskey and a couple of wines. It was late November and all the tourists were gone. Locals only that evening having a rowdy good time. Very nice service, fairly high prices in an old quaint building. I'm glad we went. Recommended.

Located at Bay Creek Resort & Club, the Coach House Tavern features quality dinning in a casual atmosphere with beautiful views of the golf course.
We have eaten 4 breakfasts at The Coach House Tavern and have thoroughly enjoyed each. 1 improvement would be a cappuccino machine. Aside from that, the coffee had flavor and was hot (not something we usually experience), the eggs, expertly cooked, the fruit was fresh, the music terrific, and the servers so wonderful.

Yes, I meant to yell the headline. This completely casual, walk up the counter and order place is beyond all expectations. Gerry and his sister make some outstanding pizzas. The worst thing was having to choose among all the different varieties. It was totally worth the visit.

Staying across the highway, we walked here for breakfast each day, and had dinner one evening. We like the ordering process (order at the counter, food brought to your table), the quick service, the food and the atmosphere - casual roadside eatery. Being off season, it was a relaxed, satisfying experience each time.
