We have been waiting for a long time for this day to arrive. For a weekend, you need to book very early. Unfortunately for us our daughter was got sick on the way there so we couldn't actually relax at the table with one of us having to be constantly worrying about her
Whats to say? Food was very good, wine was reasonably priced, service was friendly and attentive,
Pasta was fresh and tasty, fiorentina was perfect and desserts tasty.
Only 1 comment, which was not a problem for us but maybe would be for some, was the lack of a menu and therefore prices. There was however a wine menu.
All in all we spent 210 for 3 antipasti, 2 primi, 2 fiorentina, 3 desserts, 2 bottles of valpolicella repasso, water and coffees. All good value.
We left a tip and I thought it was a nice touch that the waitress came out and said thanks

Within Hotel Axolute
Not far from Milan and near Lake Como, one finds the city of Cantù. Near one of the roundabouts is a restaurant with Bar and hotel called Unico. The restaurant is downstairs and offers excellent traditional Italian cuisine as well as super pizzas. Upstairs one finds a chic bar with a great happy hour, where two of the bartenders Giorgio and Claudio mix up some of the best martinis I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable and the wine list is great. One of the best kept secrets in Lombardy. Give it a try! Cheers, Sandro Fazzolari, composer.

Brought there by friends from Cantù I've to confess, I cannot add anything new to the things the others wrote ! Just open thing: I come around a bit and there is nothing I hate more than figuring out that the "packaging" promised more than what you find. Here it is the opposite ! The risotti are just great in their sober but tasty way they come....The waiters and the owner gave me the feeling of having been there before.....Even I'm not nostalgic at all, the place gives you a feeling of turning the wheel a bit back in time......in a nice but not fake way !
Unfortunately I've to wait till my next business-trip there to return , but it is promised to do so !

We have looked at this restaurant for some time and happily finally got there.
The waitress, who I assume is the owner, is very informative and rightly clearly proud of her menu. We started with lardo with chestnuts and honey and a bacala/potato plate. Both were delicious. For primi we had a gnocchi cooked with a delicious cheese and a pasta again both were faultless and for a secondi I had tartar which was again presented well and most enjoyable. I wish the website was better as I could do the dishes more justice with their correct names and ingredients.
The restaurant was full and I suspect it often is as and there is a young man assisting the owner who should be empowered to do a little more perhaps taking responsibility for desserts and coffees allowing her to spend more time with the tables who are ordering.
A very nice dinner in a very nice restaurant with jazz in the background, we will undoubtedly return.....Not a place to take young children!

Very pretty restaurant, with lots of rooms. We sat facing the garden (appropriately enough). Very light and bright. I had the pumpkin ravioli with truffle cream sauce. VERY good. My father had a very simple spaghetti with tomatoes. They cost the same. Huh? Mine was a very good deal, his (while tasty), not so much. Oh well. Very small menu, so don't expect a ton of choices. And there is no wine list. Essentially, you walk by a wall of bottles and pick one. Umm, ok. So this means I have to ask how much each bottle costs?
My plate alone was 4*, but the combo of my father's simple dish costing the same, and no wine list at all, brings it down a star.

Head waiter very pleasant and spoke good English. Food was excellent, but not cheap, but then there are no bargains in Northern Italy!! so be prepared to pay more for everything. Lovely touches to our meal and free lemoncello after, nice touch. Staff did everything to make our meal memorable and it was. Thank you Al Torchio.

Excellent choice of Italian menus, carefully cooked and presented, at moderate prices. We went there for a family dinner, and even with small children, were very friendly served. Modern style of interior, modern equipment in kitchen. We tried taglierini, risotto, and fish, all of it excellent. For finding Figino-Serenza, 15 km south of Como, we recommend a GPS-navigator. We stayed at the Villa Argenta, close by, under the same management, and were very satisfied.

I suggest this restaurant to everyone who wishes to eat Chinese food in the neighborhood.
The restaurant consists of a three-zones ambient which mix classical Chinese vases and touches and modern, Italian furniture and touches.
The environment is actually quite simple and not particularly pretentious.
The service is ready, accurate, fast and very friendly, although sometimes too hasty, and the dishes, all prepared with care.
The raw materials, it is to say, are a bit the ones you can find in all Chinese restaurants, with some additions of fresh vegetables or other dishes of the day.
For an evening Chinese in the area, however, definitely recommend it, because I've appreciated most of the dishes, moreover the dumplings, the soy pasta, the fish dishes, and the vegetables.

If friends from the area wouldn't had brought there. The trattoria is like the little town: small and cosy ! Stroll a bit around , that makes space for the food you'll get ! The fried "gnocco" (some kind of empty fritters of bread dough) come with the cold cut's of very good quality, the wine of the house goes well with it !
The kitchen is very down to earth, feeling a bit visiting the aunt which cooks well .
Better book the place, locals love it (almost everybody is knowing everybody).
Fausto will have certainly some joke or gag ready...certainly in Cantù-dialect .
Cannot wait to return !
