Great place in a beautiful rustic mountain valley setting. Eight of us descended upon this restaurant and we had a wonderful and lunch - simple and typical Swiss menu. We enjoyed everything we left very happy and will go back again. Check their hours before you go!

I came here for friday evening dinner with my sisters. we were very welcomed, even though the restaurant was full. the menu was quite interesting as it was not only a 'mountain' style menu but included 2 or 3 fish dishes. we had a starter of fish carpaccio (which was a very large portion) served with really tasty warm bread. then we had lamb tajine, and for me a whole fish with perfectly cooked veg and a gratin of potatoes. a lovely meal, nice reasonably priced wine and a pleasant homely feel to the place. easy parking if you come up by car and about 15mins from the bottom of the mountain. they are open from weds to sunday all day, so you can stop in for a hot chocolate or coffee after a walk around the village, or a cool glass after doing the hiking paths in the summer, huge terrace in season

Food was great and the owner was very welcoming. We went there for a quick break with friends coming back from verbier. We finally ended spending the whole afternoon outside in the sun having excellent food in the very scenic place (the mountains surrounding the restaurant). It was a great moment!

This restaurant is simply top class: it serves fine foods, traditional Swiss and inventive French style menu items that you would expect in a fancy restaurant by a lake. The service is efficient and prompt, the dishes look high quality and the taste is unbelievably exquisite. You will appreciate the smiling waiters, mine was Alexandre, who deserves a big compliment for his outstanding service! This Auberge is well worth a visit from far and//or after a great hike, which was my case. I had Rosti with goat cheese, dried tomatoes and rocket, an absolute delicacy.Check out the dessert menu and go, for example, for the Raspberry Millefeuille with raspberry sorbet. You will not forget this place, which by the way is also a hotel, dorms, and beautiful indoor, outdoor eating areas, kids' playground, etc.Prices are very good for what is offered at high standard.Bed/Breakfast is available at standard local prices.Lots of hiking trails right outside, plenty of parking and very near to Aigle, Bex, Lavey-les-Bains.Please also visit the Botanical Gardens "La Thomasia", opposite the Auberge!Mariana Amar

This restaurant is close to the shop and entrance of the Mines de Bex (Salt Mines). The owner is called the cat (the chat) nobody knows really why. He is a very funny person and he does his best to receive his guests himself. The decoration of the restaurant is very special. I do not want to tell to much, it is a surprise. So is the menu.Taste the fine langue d'agnaux (sheep tongue) or the excellent fillet de boeuf cooked on a salt bed. This are the meals we ate there. I am sure all other meals are excellent, too.Sometimes there is music at this restaurant. Unfortunately we were never in the area when this happened.

Rustic restaurant setting in an old village house, next to a car parking lot. Very good local food of this Chablais region, made in a tiny kitchen behind the eating area. Efficient service also when the small family restaurant is fully booked.

The plates are just too big for the tables! As they had just received a 'promotion' of Gault et Millau to 14/20 (a strange system of evaluating, that is to say 23% below the top!), we thought it still was worth trying out. We had lunch in the "cold", not so attractive and small-tabled cafe.We were disappointed. We both had the menu of the day, which consisted of: Salade d'avocate et grapefruit rose a la citronelle, followed by Jambon cuit a l'os, jus reduit au Porto; gratinee de pommes de terre Mont d'Or; farcie de Poireaux, and for dessert was a Clafoutis aux raisins et noisettes. The wine was chosen from the open offering and was a Syrah 2010 "Henri Cruchon", which was very acceptable. The avocado, which was served in it's shell was almost tasteless and needed at least some salt, which was not on the table (no space!) and which we had to ask for. As Bex has a famous salt mine, it supposedly came from there. (When the waitress was asked, she did not know!).The ham was very dry and over-cooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The lady serving was very apologetic and the second portion was acceptable...but no more. The Clafoutis was bland (my friend took one spoon and rejected it) and needed to be at least a bit sweeter.Le vieux Prune after the meal at CHF 15 was the best part of the meal...even at that price! They are surely less than 23 % from the top!

I just love this place, winter or summer, outside our inside, it is just Switzerland as you think it is. Always eat la croute complete! Staff is very nice. Last but not least, the location is ace and I recommend to park the car at the first car-park to take the 45min walk to Solalex. Ainât flat but ainât difficult either.

Nestled amongst the mountains, Le Refuge de Frience offers a cozy, warm respite from the rigours of the stunning natural beauty that surrounds it. Whether taking a break from the summer sun for a refreshing drink, or enjoying satisfying, traditional Swiss
My wife and I had an impromptu dinner at this excellent mountain restaurant where the food and wine was excellent and highly recommended. Moreover next to the restaurant a swimming lake has been created with a lively beach, bbqs and beautiful views. Well worth a visit and free entrance. It will be a great pleasure to welcome you and your wife at your next visit.
