We enjoyed lunch here on a nice Saturday. Good tasty salads, very nice pasta and a relatively good wine choice. The service started a little slow ... but then warmed up a lot during the stay. A pleasant experience.

Itâs a great little restaurant, but you should know what you can expect. This is an example of a âfamilyâ type of tapas bar. Nothing modern, no hypes. The inside is cozy: low on personal space and potentially loud. Your tables are from wood and the building is rather old and painted in many colors presented in a fishing theme. If you would make it like this new, you would laugh at it; but the place can handle it.The people are friendly, if you greet them with a smile. They work hard and run around in a small place where you can hardly run around. The food is also family style Spanish. Donât expect modern recipes, donât expect nice plate make. What you will get is: garlic, oil and patatoâs or bread in anything. If that is what you can enjoy, you will enjoy this place. Also: the food comes when it is ready; nothing comes at the same time and you should expect that you will share all plates. Personally I can enjoy it, which is why I have been there 3 times already.Expect at least 20 euroâs per person on food, when you also eat some bread or potatoâs. A great place for friends and potentially a date when you want the âact like normalâ style. Not a great place to take your parents-in-law you prefer to be a bit distant or to bring your date who likes designer handbags.

The Costanzer Wirtshaus is a place to visit if one want to taste an excellent homemade beer with a wonderful view on the Rhein river. They also have beer garden so it is particularly pleasant to visit it in summer, but also in winter one can seat inside with a beautiful view. The food is definitively good and traditional, but nothing really extraordinary or sophisticated: just the typical food to have with a good beer. I can advice the pork roasts and the goulash but also the Kaesespaetzle are very good. The grilled fish is also tasty. Prices are in the average for Konstanz restaurants (I live here) but the problem is that the restaurant is always very crowded. If you go on a weekend, you should definitively reserve despite the restaurant is big.

Konstanz is a unique border town. Because it practically and geographically lies in Switzerland, directly adjacent to the Swiss border, Konstanz was not bombed by the Allied Forces during WW 2. The city left all its lights on at night to fool the bombers into thinking it was actually part of neutral Switzerland. So this building "Hotel Hirschen" also survived, I think. We came to this restaurant because they always have vegetarian menu, not just salad but a wonderful creative menu, and if you want to avoid garlic or mushrooms they do it for you. It is not the most elegant restaurant but the people are friendly and the restaurant is always filled with Swiss visitors, which shows something. They seem to be specialized in potatoes dishes and, what we had, potatoes gnocchi dough ship baked and filled with seasonal vegetables, was excellent.

We had lunch last Friday in this bresserie and enjoyed their "Flammkuchen" an Alsacian speciality. You can choose from different toppings for this crispy thin breadshell. A light and healthy meal. We have been dining here before and the service is very friendly and the location is excellent, just opposite the Konstanz railways station.

We went two evenings in a row. Warm welcome, efficient service, cozy interior. The wines were excellent. The original formula is that you buy 'teller': small dishes. You can have enough with one, but you can order more. The price per teller goes down as you go along.

Yet another wonderful experience at Ophelia! We love visiting during the summer months when you can sit outside on the beautiful terrace and indulge in the incredible menu. The staff was very attentive and classic, the food was creative and inspired, and the atmosphere wonderful. What a great evening! On top of it they were able to accommodate a severe food allergy (with advanced notice) - thank you to the chefs!

For "atmosphere" read overcrowded with slow service. And if any of the locals eat there, they hide it well. The beer was distinctly average and my "chicken salad" turned out to be a lump of cold coronation chicken served with one lettuce leaf and a single slice of tomato (which even in England would have been described as "garnish"). Definitely one to avoid.
