I was recently visiting Neuchatel and friends of mine insisted that we had dinner in a Chinese restaurant... I thought it was a pretty bad idea! I didn't come to Neuchatel to discover Chinese cuisine. After all, I have experienced it repeatedly in New York's Chinatown during five years. My friends insisted so much that it would have been unpolite to refuse. As soon as we entered the door, I was delightfully surprised by the warm reception. To say the service is outstanding would not be enough. The concept is simple: the buffet is huge and you can eat all kinds of Asian foods to your heart content. There was stir fried wok food prepared to your specifications and all the Chinese fare you would expect. Also Sushi, though not Sashimi. Simply put, everything was delicious and, according to my friends who footed the bil, a great bargain.

The view is breathtaking - you see the whole lake and in the background the nowcovered tops of the alp mountains. You can sit inside or outside on the big terrace. The concept of the dishes offered is simple and good: make your choice of ingredients and the taste and the way how to prepare - and you have exactly what you like after 10 minutes. Perfect! The service is fast and friendly. Kitchen and toilettes are nice and clean.

But I was in for a most pleasant surprise. Not only where the Sushi and Sashimi in the large presentation buffet not only presented beautifully but a decent priced Bentobox for CHF 18 including ginger flakes and Wasabi plus an included nonalcoholic drink proofed to be one of the best Sushi experiences I ever had. The fish and shrimps have been top fresh, the sushis rolled to perfection and the fillings just as they should be. This Sushi was so good I had to know more about it so I asked the friendly server about the makers. It turned out that they come from a Sushi kitchen in Carouge near Geneva owned by a Japanese masterchef and his all japanese Staff. The owner is said to be buying and contracting the ingredients and of course the fish personally on the fish and vegetable markets insisting on top quality. The Tuna in the presented Sushis looked as fresh as if it had just been cut from the fish, amazing that in landlocked country like Switzerland such delicious Sushi is possible. In Ekai not only the food and the friendliness of the server are an absolute delight but also the interior and the modern hentai art. Very recommendable for all visitors and locals a true find.

We like Japanese food and the sushi and sashimi here are good but the hot food is often only average. Our main complaint is the service which is slow and disorganised (we don't always get what we order and not everyone gets served at the same time). Shame.

Friends of ours recommended this place and although it's quite far from our home we decided to give it a try. Did not disappoint. The place is quite unassuming from outside but ok inside. Unfortunately there was an overpowering insense smell. I guess they are used and don't really smell it anymore but it interfered with the food it was so strong, and there was no window you could open. So this is a big minus.Service was ok, and food was very tasty. Not too spicy although I ordered a spicy dish. All in all a good experience but they should really go ease on the scented smoke as it did dampen the whole evening.

I travel to Thailand several times per year for business purposes and what I miss most is that fantastic food this country has to offer. Whenever I am back to Europe I am searching for a good Thai restaurant to fulfill my desire for authentic Thai food. Well...I can finally stop searching now. This place has it all and its delicious!! The staff is nice and the location cozy. My new favourite restaurant for Thai food

We went there a few times and last time was with my parents! We wanted to invite them. This sushi bar is a family restaurant and every guest receive a warm and friendly welcome. They suggest a couple of different menus or you can do it the usual way!! You have a great price-quality-quantity relationship!By the way, one of us was vegan and they adapted the menu without any problem.You should definitely try their spicy red tuna maki and their red bean ice cream!

The meal was great! Very good service! I would recommend reserving beforehand as it is quite small and it is like eating on one big family table. This is a small but busy restaurant serving great Thai food quickly and in a friendly way. I was enjoying my Singha beer having ordered a green chicken curry when I noticed a small note in the window stating that cards are not accepted - cash only! I quickly asked the waitress to hold the food while I went to the bank; she said "too late, it's ready - have your food and go to the bank afterwards!" The curry was excellent and generous in size. Beer and curry for CHF 22, very good value. I will be back to explore the rest of the menu.
