Fribourg (French pronunciation: [fʁibuʁ]; Arpitan: Fribôrg or Friboua, pronounced [fʁibwa] ( listen)) or Freiburg (German, or Freiburg im Üechtland, Swiss German pronunciation: [ˈfrib̥ʊrɡ]; Italian: Friborgo or Friburgo; Romansh: Friburg) is the capital of the Swiss canton of Fribourg and the district La Sarine. It is located on both sides of the river Saane/Sarine, on the Swiss Plateau, and is a major economic, administrative and educational center on the cultural border between German and French Switzerland (Romandy). Its Old City, one of the best-maintained in Switzerland, sits on a small rocky hill above the valley of the Sarine.

Rue de Lausanne, late at night. At the juncture of the medieval city and the city center, a cozy glow from a built sse atypical illuminates the cobbles of its warm golden color. We perceive through the weightlessness of the mist, noise, laughter and heate
Here you can find the best quality/price brunch in town and probably also the longest drink list of Fribourg, with a many of the good italian Baladin craft beers, a lot of bottles from all over the world and also a good choice of wines and spirits. The staff is young, nice and informal as the overall atmosphere. I like a lot also the furniture. Stop by for a home made cold tea in a hot saturday afternoon, or for a beer after dinner, for a brunch of for lunch (I still haven't tried they're hambugers though).Merci beaucoup pour vos commentaires élogieux.En espérant que vous reviendrez goûter nos burgers faits maison , avec le pain et la viande préparés par nos artisans locaux .... Yes, it's cheap. Compare it to "fine" burger restaurants in Switzerland like Holycow and others, the Café Populaire is cheap. On Monday and Tuesday evening, you get any meal for 13 CHF and a beer for 4 CHF. Otherwise the average price is 20 CHF for a great meal and a drink.Other than that, the service is really attentive and friendly. It's not high-class, it's friendly. Expect smiles, advice, suggestions. You'd better book in advance if you're planning lunch or dinner with more than one person.Sadly you have to pay with cash only. This is a very negative point in my opinion considering Fribourg is one of the rare places around Europe where you can't pay with a card in so many restaurants. I don't think there is any justification to this since business seems to roll for the Populaire. I hope to see this changed soon.Enjoy an amazing burger or sandwich at Café Populaire!

Holy Cow! is a fast casual restaurant concept, focusing on delicious fresh, nutritious burgers served in a quick, friendly environment. Our burgers are made with locally Swiss, fresh quality ingredients and cooked in front of the customer in our open kitc
I had dinner at the "Holy Cow" on Thursday, 22 June. The restaurant is pleasantly located close to the Easternmost tip of Rue de Lausanne, in central Fribourg. Tables are available both inside and outside, leaving you with a nice view of the street. On the menu, all sosrts of burgers may be found: beef, veggie and chicken, in addition to a range of signature salads. Of note, burgers are served either on their own or as part of a menu including French fries and a drink. A number of student deals are also on display. As I was very hungry, I opted for the menu section dedicated to the very hungry (literally, "Pour les gros appetits") and went for a Smokin' Holy Cowboy burger, including double beef, double cheddar cheese, bacon, cajun mayo, ketchup, BBQ sauce, caramelized onions and batavia salad. The beef was excellent, and overall the burger was very tasty and rewarding. With the burger only - I did not feel like having fries - and a 50 cl bottle of still water, the bill was CHF 23,80. Not exactly cheep, but Switzerland hardly ever is, from Southern European standards! Finally, I was delighted with the staff's kindness. I was served by Nadia, who was very nice and hospitable. Should I get back Fibourg, I definitely think that the "Holy Cow" would be my choice for a comforty meaty meal.Thank you for your nice comments AnTeastalai! We are so glad that you visited our restaurant and you had a great experience. Thank you for taking your time to let us know how we did. We hope to see you again soon!
