We had a wonderful experience in this restaurant. The venison was excellent, the service was very attentive and professionnel but at the same time informel and the ambiance lovely. We would not hesitate to go back next time we are in town.

French bistronomy by chef Franck Chouette. Le Beausite is a historic restaurant with early 20th century architecture.
Very refreshing to be welcomed by people who are happy to work. Have been visiting a friend in Fribourg and discovered this unique place where food was simply delicious. Had a drink at the lounge located in the balcony before our dinner, the view on the place was superb from upstairs with a very creative barman. Try the fish backed in salt crust!Thank you very much for your review. Looking forward to welcoming you again.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night. The place was packed and really bustling. However, the service was excellent and friendly. No stress. The food was also very good. I had mushroom risotto followed by sausage and chips. The risotto was crunchy and very tasty. Then a single, large sausage - home made? - came with great, thin chips. My wife had a nice fresh salad and then a risotto with quail legs. Excellent. Good wines too. Great sorbet and creme brûlée to finish. Very good indeed.

We discovered this restaurant during a stroll around Fribourg and were lured in by the menu, by the number of diners clearly enjoying themselves, and by the outside terrace offering fantastic views across to the picturesque old town. The menu was good value (a 3 course lunch for CHF36 or 2 courses for CHF31) and the food excellent. The only slight grumble was that the service could have been better. We were left alone for ages when we first arrived and the waiter got our order wrong, with my partner missing out on his dessert completely. Nevertheless, a very good choice and memorable at that.

A friendly family restaurant serving wonderful winter comfort food. We happily caught the tail end of the "Rosti" festival: grated potatoes with toppings from vacherin to lardons, onion and fried eggs. Great food after a day of skiing. The desserts are the highlight with traditional gruyere meringue served with double cream testing even the most gourmand of appetites!

I came here twice during one week. They say this place has the best fondue in town. Although I cannot confirm this statement in technical terms (due to a lack of experience eating fondue), I can definitely see why this claim is very likely true. It was so amazing that I came here twice in one week, despite it being summer and pretty warm in Fribourg at the moment. To have such a meal at lunch time makes it a bit worse with the daytime heat, but it was that good. The waitresses were also all super friendly, and they all smiled charmingly (not to mention were very pretty too). All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant to a friend for their excellent fondue. I am also told by other friends that their other meals are also excellent although I stopped at their heavenly fondue for such a short period.

I've not generally been impressed by Swiss cuisine, but Cafe Gothard is an exception. We went with two versions of the traditional roesti; the Gruerien and the Valaisan, both of which were excellent. The Valasian, with tomatoes and raclette cheese was a bit more plain, but the tomatoes really helped cut the richness of the cheese and buttery potatoes. That said, I preferred the Gruerien since it comes with speck (bacon lardons) and onions, but without the tomatoes to cut it, the richness is strong. The restaurant itself isn't huge, so reservations or eating early are advisable. Service was friendly, but this seems to be a predominately French-speaking town, and only one of the servers spoke english. That said, we didn't have any trouble getting by in pidgin French and a bit of English, so don't let that scare you off. Overall probably the best Swiss food I've had in four different trips to Switzerland, and if you're in the area it is definitely worth visiting!

Very well situated in the city this Michelin star restaurant always serve great food, good service done by Denis and other team members, always a nice word from the chef and the business lunch menu is very well served for a reasonable price. Wine list large and also some wines by the glass and the maitre d'hotel will tell you what to take. A must in Fribourg!

We ate lunch in the garden and what a treat it was. Big tables, well spaced (although the cigar smoke from our neighbours was not great), comfortable chairs. Good service, nice bread selection. Then came the food. Foie gras with black rice - fantastic; giant prawns with ginger - lovely; veal and lobster - luxury; quail with foie gras - sumptuous. Great sharing plate of deserts, coffee and more sweets. Great wine list, inc. half bottles. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but very well worth it. We will return.
