Leckeres Essen, grosse Portionen, Selbstbedienung, gute Athmosphäre, preiswert - ich ginge wiedereinmal hin, wenn ich keine Lust zum selber kochen habe.

All the way from West Australia for 2 weeks in beautiful Langenthal and surrounds, and we found the perfect place to unwind.. The weather was mild so we sat outside and indulged in good cold wine,coffees.cakes.light snacks, all first class... but the welcoming staff and ambience was beyond delightful!.. Nearly every day for a couple of hours.. we totally relaxed and enjoyed a few laughs and great snacks. THANK YOU to all at the Langenthal Suteria, a memorable part of our trip. :) xxx

Excellent and multi color selection of italian style gelati. Try it and you will love it. Good place to meet people, specially on friday evening
Neuhüsli is the classic "Quartier Biez" (neighborhood restaurant / pub". The atmosphere is classic Bernese. The last renovation was probably 50 years ago, if that. The cook is a real character. He always comes out to great the guests and is full of positive energy and humor. The waiter and waitress are very friendly and open, even curious. This is not often the case in such places that cater to the local "Stammgäste". Usually, the guests and the staff look at the incoming strangers as if they are aliens. This is not the case here.Neuhüsli specializes in game. So be sure to visit during "Wildseason". They could work on getting more tender cuts of venison, but then that's the game with game. One cannot expect it to be as tender as a Filet Mignon. The highlight, IMHO, is the sauce. I ate here twice last week and had 2 different dishes, thus 2 different sauces. The guy has talent.I'll be back to see how saucy he can be...

The sausage and cheese salad with all garnishes was good. It was a very large portion with fresh vegetables and salads -- carrots, boiled eggs, cucumbers, celery, and cabbage. Nice presentation. My husband and I shared this salad (waiter did not like that we shared it) and both of us together could not eat all of it. My friend ordered the sausage cheese salad without all the garnishes and it seemed like a reasonable portion for one person. The service was not particularly good - waiter was not positive nor helpful.

I have visited this a few times now - it is a great ventral location and just behind the Baren hotel and on the corner of the square. It looks very quaint and is housed in a lovely building. There are not many of the wooden tables but as a group we did not have any issue getting one on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. If you ask the waiter you can have the wi-fi code too which is very helpful. The food has always been good and the people friendly. A mix up on our orders once did not put us off as what we did have was excellent. Everyone tried to help translate and we all had a great night out. The prices were expensive but I do seem to find this in most places whatever the quality of the food - here you could guarantee the good quality adn with good service it seemed like a nice place to eat.

I dine here regularly. I am a Stammgast, as we say in good Deutsch. There are times when I have had dinner here at "The Braui" 3 times within a week. And as a Stammgast, it is all too easy to take a place for granted. Some of the most valuable gems are right on one's doorstep. So, let me correct this oversight... The first thing one notices upon entering is the history, impeccably preserved and with great care. You say to yourself, "My God, if the walls could talk." The next thing is the warm welcome. Any foreigner in Switzerland can tell you about 100 experiences that follow entering a "local" establishment... the strange looks, the whispering, the distance. This is not the case here. The next is the collection of excellent beers. Guinness is at the top, obviously. (no bias from the half Irishman here) If one judges the level of civilization by the number of establishments that serve Guinness per capita, Langenthal is now among the most civilized places in the world. 15 years ago, we had just 1 pub serving Guinness. Now, we have 4!Then there is the menu. I have tried nearly all the selections. They are all above average. Some are excellent. When lamb or rabbit or Pferd (horse) is on the seasonal card, don't miss it. It is world-class. The slightly-herbed pomme-frittes are always world-class. They are downright addictive. I rate them as the best in Switzerland. My children do not refer to The Braui as The Braui. They call it "The Pomme-frittes Place". The wine list is short. But, you cannot find better price/performance anywhere. The average price is

The town of Langenthal is nothing to write home about; however it has a little gastronomic gem: L'Auberge. Tucked a few minutes away from the train station, L'Auberge is located within an impressive house, and combines excellent food and genuine hospitality.I had dinner in the Bistro (really nice room), but there is also an upscale gourmet option in an adjacent and more intimate dining room.Thumbs-up to the wonderful service - smiling, attentive and efficient. Mrs Vogl Baki (owner) welcomed each guest personally upon arrival - much appreciated. The menu in the Bistro is kept short but quite appetizing. As starter I had beetroot ravioli with goat cheese - tasty and delicate. As main course I chose the chicken breast served with potato puree and cabbage. Eventually I indulged in a typical winter dessert: "vermicelles" i.e. chestnut vermicelli with meringue. It came out as a gargantuesque portion!Swiss price level is very high and L'Auberge makes no exception, with the bill being close to CHF100. But the genuinely friendly service and food quality are definitely well worth it.
