Things to do in Biel
This very beautiful swiss restaurant has been taken over by asians some years ago. I love chinese food, so I tried several times to eat there. Last summer they had the buffet, but it was presented like they just do not care, food was obviously overcooked or in the trays for too long. So I let it be, but frustrated, and I wanted to give them another chance. So in the last two or three weeks, when I wanted to eat there, I never saw other customers, so I was not tempted to go into an empty restaurant. The emptiness usually has a reason. Today I was so hungry I thought I will eat there whatever the food will look like. Well, there was no food, just trays filled with water, and a chinese person who was not able to communicate neither in english, german or french. Came a young man from behind a curtain, did threaten me and pushed me to the door! Because I unsuccessfully did consider eating there several times before, but never did it.... Cooking chinese myself, I only can recommend to stay away from this amateurish operation.

As we drove by this restaurant we remembered visiting it some 5 years ago. So we pulled up in the mid-afternoon and enjoyed a café crème as well as the view over the northern tip of Lake Biel. Friendly service, nice location, good coffee.

I have been there many times and have never been disappointed. Try the Wiener-Schnitzel for a great menu. Or the Beef-Tartar. Excellent. For Dessert try the Icecafé. It is there homemade recipe where thy add just a very little bit of Kirsch (Cherry-alcohol) which makes it lovely and creamy! I have it each time I go there. They also have a very good wine selection. You will enjoy it, I'm sure.

Food was very tasty. Large portion too. Pricing seemed average for Swiss. Nice to be able to sit outside on a warm evening,

My husband ordered the fish, which was nicely cooked and flavorful, but very expensive. I ordered the meat dish, with vegetables. The vegetables were nothing short of awful. The salad was flat with little to no dressing. The meat was so salty and unappetizing. As the reviews for this restaurant were so good, I assumed it was safe to order anything. Don't make that assumption. Order the fish or go somewhere else. But be warned that you will only get fish...nothing else. The ambiance is great, and the view lovely, but at the end of the day the food also needs to be good. Expensive for what you get.Hello,Thank you for your comment and we are happy you enjoyed the Fish! We are a Fish specialty restaurant but also serve great meat dishes. In the summer, our vegetables come from our garden and are steam cooked to keep all the flavors and vitamins. We apologize if they were not to your taste or if something went wrong. We regret that you did not communicate your concerns with us during your visit as customer satisfaction is a priority and we gladly bring more salad sauce when requested!

The ambiance was quite nice, Very informal & laid back. However would have preferred if they had few smaller tables. All the tables were shared tables with other customers, bit cafeteria style. The food was okay I would say, the flavors were bit missing. There was no WOW factor. Iâm not sure everything is locally produced in Bienne, some of them would do.The waitress who served us was really nice, she was friendly and kind. When we got the bill we were surprised to see 1L of tap water cost 9CHF. That was a bit of a rip off. This is a nice place if you like to have an after work apero with some small bites.Dear TjK-CHThank you very much for this comment. First of all we combine LOKAL products with different stiles/products from other cuisines, that means it is of course not everything produced in Biel. They call it fusion.Water situation: check https://wfw.ch, we spend 10% of water income. Furthermore is our water à discretion (even sparkling...), that means you can drink as much water as you want, for CHF 3.30 (rip off?). I can't follow your mathematics skills that the water was expensiver than alcohol.

Really enjoyed the "Eglifilets à la meunière" although they were coming from abroad (which is just because of the season for local fish was already over). Service was attentive, suggest local white wine was simply amazing ....

We took our friend from London for dinner to Peroquet Vert as we were looking for something nice and pretty and different in our local Neuchatel and nothing matched the criteria. It was definitely worth the drive and we ended up spending delightful 4 hours in this delicious and friendly restaurant. All the food we had was wonderful, simple and delicious! Nothing really fancy here, but all that is offered is great quality. The service is exceptional, all areas of the restaurant are wonderfully clean, really nothing to complain about. It is no cheap, but cheap restaurants do not really exist in Switzerland so all good! Go and enjoy one of the best places to eat in this part of Switzerland!
