My wife and I visited here last Saturday, early evening, for some pre-dinner drinks and snacks. It was our first visit...and I doubt we will return. We sat outside and the service was slow. Much worse, however, was the attitude of the waiter- some guy that hadn't shaved for a week or so. He was just miserable and arrogant, demanding payment as soon as we were served, refusing to set up a tab, refusing to speak English even though it was obvious he could do so. We left after our first drink. There is a much nicer, friendlier place one or two doors away.
Best Mediterranean food near Reinach, Canton of Basel, Switzerland
This has been my favorite local restaurant for the last year and I probably eat there a couple of times a month or more. It is an easy choice and always enjoyable. I'd describe the style as updated modern Swiss using local produce to create delicious food in sensibly generous portion sizes (not too huge, but you don't leave hungry). Selections include soup, salads, fish, meat and vegetarian/vegan options, bringing finesse and creative flavor combinations to complement the regional style. There is an excellent value daily lunchtime menu changing weekly and the a la carte includes regular classics (burger, cordon-bleu, schnitzel) as well as seasonal specialities (currently pumpkin, venison, red cabbage for autumn). I donât always have room for dessert but there is usually a fruit tart or mousse as temptation. There is beer brewed in-house and wines from the vineyards surrounding Arlesheim. The enthusiastic young team give friendly, smiling service and switch easily between speaking German and English. The atmosphere inside is cosy and there is outdoor seating in summer. Just around the corner from the tram and bus, there is also parking outside. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner on Monday to Friday, but closed at weekends except for occasional special events.
