Quite simply this is an excellent quality and well priced local Spanish seafood restaurant. We have eaten here several times over the years and never disappointed. Saturday lunch was fully booked but the great staff squeezed us in. As ever all the customers were Spanish of all ages and types. No fuss but a focus on relatively simply cooked food, not just seafood but we have not tried it. The staff are unfailingly courteous and helpful despite our lack of Spanish. We had the roast turbot that the restaurant cuts into cutlets, individually pan fry and reassemble to form the fish. Most/all other restaurants cook this fish whole. We love it as done here with plenty of garlic and crispy potatoes. The wine is great and also very well priced. We thoroughly recommend the restaurant, which if you read the Spanish TripAdvisor reviews is extremely well regarded. E67 for a great meal with wine and a shared desert and coffee.

This restaurant smells sea: withe decoration with blue touch and you can see the fisher ships from the table.Of course, the main part of the menu is about fish and seafood.Rabas, fresh calamar fried perfectly to keep of the taste and the inside sea liquor.Zamburiñas, fresh and tasty, with a little bit of vinegar touch, more than I like, but great!Mussels in tomato sauce. Great sauce not hidden mussels quality and taste.Pulpo. First time trying this octopus grilled with sauce of persil, paprika and olive oil, but is gorgeous!Grilled turbot. Great quality fish... worshipped with some olive oil and fried potatos. Fantastic!Friendly service very helpful and pleasant.

We were a group of nine, all seafood lovers except one. Our waiter TomasWas perfect, he suggested the specials, answered our questions. The wholeGroup loved his suggestions. Tomas also helped us choose the wine. The wine list is extensive. They serve half portions of many items onThe menu. Leave room for desserts, all tempting and home made.Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back....

Signature cuisine based on the marked tradition of seafood and fish from Cantabria and Northern Spain. Good wine cellar selected for a tasting menu at an excellent price and that you will not have tasted in other restaurants.
We were at this restaurant yesterday for one of the best lunches on this holiday. Itâs a traditional restaurant with a section for tapas and another section for fine dining. We were at the fine dining part and Antonio who served us was very warm, friendly, attentive and professional. He recommended the Turbot fish, lightly fried. We had that with tomato salad. Amazingly good. The wines were also excellent. Highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.Ps: they do have an English menu and Antonio was able to communicate very well. Hello dsingh2000We love to hear that you have enjoyed with us and we want to thank you for having done this review. We hope to see you again soon!

A nice friendly restaurant, great waiter nothing too much trouble. Menu of the Day was Paella full of prawns, squid and shell fish followed by Seabass etc freshly prepared food and tasty. Slightly more expensive at 14euros but includes drink, bread and dessert. Extensive fish menu available and it looked amazing when being served to other tables.

Our trip to Spain is drawing to an end and we have continued our search for the perfect lunch!!!We ate here today: a little bit difficult to find if your expectation is Santander, its on the outskirts in a little village. The venue is lovely, typically Spanish and typical of this area. The lady who served us was welcoming and friendly, it was quiet when arrived at 2pm but was packed as the afternoon wore on. The food was fabulous: we had jamon and cheese croquettas, a delicious fish pudin( similar to a seafood terrine served with toast), I had red sea bass, he had beef steak, we shared a delicious bottle of wine, water and dessert, we had coffee to finish, the cost was 80Euros and excellent value, we highly recommend.

We made the effort to find this tiny resturaunt during out visit to Santander. Located in the fishing district of Barrio Pescera, this simple resturaunt is reminiscent of a scene from the film 'The Waterfront'. The setting might be simple but the food is certainly not. Fabulous freshly caught fish cooked well in great local traditional recipies. The service was good, friendly and the price was very cheap. I had a starter of mussels in sauce and then had sea food paella which is a must. If you are in Santander make the effort to visit La Chulilla..you will be glad you did.

[Cerrado hasta el 29/11/2018] La Nueva Gaviota es un restaurante marisquerÃa de Santander que recoge la herencia hostelera de más de 50 años en uno de los mejores barrios de Santander, el Barrio Pesquero.
We flew into Bilbao on Sunday 29th July and were driven to Santander, arriving at a large restaurant area at 15.00 hrs. All the restaurants in the area were extremely popular, but La Gaviota found us a table for 7, including our three grandchildren. The staff were friendly and helpful, and service was prompt and efficient. The seafood was of high quality, and my only criticism was that the paella was rather too salt. The atmosphere was relaxed and the meal reasonably priced. A very pleasant first stop on our tour of Northern Spain

Looking for a seafood restaurant in the fishing district of Santander? Look no further, you have arrived and you will hit! Specialties of seafood and fresh fish direct from the market prepared in a delicious way while maintaining the flavor of our sea.
Yes, this is not a romantic place. Unlike stated in other reviews, they do have table cloth and tissues, but the setting is far from romantic or cosy.Go there to have seafood and leave when you are done - but people are friendly and the 75⬠marisquerÃa (âtourist platterâ) we shared (2 of us) was fresh, honest and abundant.Thank you for your opinion, we thank you for valuing our products, which indeed are always abundant, and above all fresh and of good quality. With regard to your comment on the romantic atmosphere, we think that love and romanticism goes beyond where the couple is, and has more to do with the moment :-)In any case it's just an opinion. Thank you for visiting us. See you again, or so we hope! :-)

In addition to excellent seafood there is an English language menu available. I have eaten in this restaurant several times over the past 7 years and quality is always excellent.
Nice dining room, attentive staff, very good varity of fish dishes. We had rice with lobster. Delicious and good portions. We came 8.00 pm and that was probably a bit early. We were the only ones in the dining section the first half hour. When we left it was almost full. Thanks Phrederic, See you soon!Best regards
