Cambridge might be best known for its university, home to some of the world’s greatest minds (Milton, Darwin, Hawking, etc.). But there’s a vibrant theater and arts scene here as well, and you’ll find fantastic contemporary restaurants mixed in with traditional pubs. Climb the tower of Great St. Mary’s Church for sweeping views of the city.

Lovely hotel, staff and great location.

Birthday night away. Lovely hotel, great breakfast and would come back. Sad that on our visit the classic cars weren’t available. One minor issue is that we were woken at 4am by a mechanical buzzing noise in the bathroom. Complained the following morning to be offered free parking as a small recompense. Disappointed as neither of us slept after the disturbance.

City break

The hotel is in an excellent location. We used the valet parking rather than using a car park. The roof top bar (when open) is great. Staff friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy. A little bit dated but the bed very comfortable. It is a pity there is not a bar to have a drink other than the roof top. Breakfast is just a continental buffet style with a cooked one on offer at an extra cost. This is a pity as it is not a cheap hotel and a cooked breakfast ought to be included. We didn't use the spa. It is accessed by going out of the hotel. The restaurant was nice, we did not use the steakhouse, again this is accessed by going out of the hotel. Overall it was a nice place to stay

Not as family friendly as stated

Reviewed By Experience762387

Came to Cambridge for a two day getaway with my family. Chose this hotel because the website said that 'children enjoy a Kids Welcome and a dedicated Kids Breakfast experience'. We weren't given either; the website also states that there are a range of kids amenities, there are adult only times at the pool which limits when children are able to use it. They're not able to use the gym, the only other facilities are a pool table which my kids were told off for using because they put the cue tip on the floor. Can't fault the hotel itself, spacious rooms, good facilities, ideal location just not the standard I would expect from a Hilton hotel.

Great hotel, not so great breakfast

Reviewed By jockrogerson

hotel was very nice and the theme is a great touch. room decor is brilliant. breakfast was a little poor. we were advised to go for breakfast early as it would be very busy after 9am. went down at 8am when not too busy, however breakfast items kept running out and then a lot of having to wait around waiting on the items to be refilled while the rest of your food went cold. need to be more on top of refilling the items when getting low. running out of items during non-busy service is not really ideal, especially when the restaurant was not even at peak capacity.

A Charming Boutique Hotel

Reviewed By Malcolm K

The Centennial is located within walking distance of the rail station and a longer distance from the academic center. It is well maintained and very clean although the lack of a lift will need a hike up the stairs with the baggage. Our room was a rather compact twin but the beds were comfortable and ensured a good night's sleep. Bathroom was similarly compact but with a plentiful supply of hot water for the shower promptly available - no running for an interminable wait. I cannot comment on the free breakfast as neither my son nor I eat substantially at that time of day; I can say, however, that the basement breakast room is clean, neat with white tablecloths and tended by a helpful staff. Reception staff was welcoming and helpful.

Clayton Hotel Cambridge

Underwhelming

Reviewed By SeamusG837

This was a really underwhelming stay and I wouldn’t return. We travelled for a night in Cambridge & soon regretted not staying in a different hotel. Location: this is right by the station which helps when arriving by training but it is about a 20 minute walk into the city. After you have done this a few times you realise the location for everything is not great. So many other central hotels which will bring you closer to everything. Service: generally service was fine but nothing above and beyond the complete basics. Check in lacked any warmth - no greeting, hello, offer of any useful information. Seemed cold. The main concern was getting £50 deposit for card. The corridor on our floor had left over room service out when we checked in, it was still left out at 6pm with food uncovered etc. I had to ring reception to ask they collected the trays and it was unhygienic and unclean. Service at breakfast was again lacking any warmth or care - it was rushed. We were booked in for 9.45 (had to book) and told by 9.55 that buffet was closing in 5. This wasn’t a problem as such but it was just all rushed. After breakfast our room keys wouldn’t work - the cleaner let one room in but refused to let the other room in (same floor and same time). They shouldn’t have really let anyone in, but another example of unsure service. Breakfast: buffet was not very warm. Generally fine all over but no selection of eggs, limited breads etc. I’ve had much better. Rooms: a good size and beds are comfy. There’s no baths, just showers and one generic bottle of shampoo/conditioner all in one. I’ve seen some pictures of rituals toiletries - we definitely didn’t get any of these. We bought some extra bits in the shop which we needed. The cleaning cupboard next to one of our rooms was making noise from early. Not the cleaners fault but just another issue. There was also what sounded like a drill going off about 10am. Overall it was underwhelming and not a stay I enjoyed. I won’t be returning.
