This little Tattoria is off the main track (even in Lucca!) and should be sought out. Food is good, house wine great and service efficient and polite. I had a steak which was cooked exactly as ordered served in a peppercorn sauce, others had Lasagna, chicken stew and Tortellini Ragu, all were decent portions, well cooked, simply presented and went well with the house wine. A hit with the locals, the wine is very reasonably priced. Food is slightly dearer than the surrounding restaurants, but, well justified. So will probably cost you an additional â¬5 per head but well worth the little extra. Been here a few times over the years, it seems to get better.

At first glance Bagno Nilo appears to be a very crowded beach overlooked by the cafe/restaurant, but friendly, helpful service, scrupulously clean facilities and good food make this a memorable and enjoyable attraction. Quick service, good food and great view. Beach has talcum powder sand, safe bathing and very comfortable pods (tables, chairs, loungers, umbrellas) that you can hire for an hour or a month, depending on how much time you have at your disposal. Lots of space between the 'rows' which helps to make it a great location.

We discovered this restaurant on our last night, so pleased we did.. Unusual menu..Very attractive inside and out with a cool blue nautical ambience.. Quirky odd chairs around the tables and nice lighting.. The service was very good and the food was well presented and tasty. I had the Red Tuna and my husband can recommend the fresh Ravioli. We couldn't manage dessert but the menu was mouthwatering!

The Ristorante Ciccarelli Esplanade offers Professional and Welcoming Service, fresh and genuine dishes made with knowledge from the Kitchen Staff..
We used this restaurant as we were half board guests at the residence hotel. I was initially dubious about the food on half board relatively inexpensive holiday however I was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was standard buffet style but catered for all breakfast preferences as well as vegan and gluten free. It was possible to have special orders of omelette fried eggs etc. All this was served between 7 and 10 am by excellent attentive friendly staff. Evening meals were exceptional there was good choices of 3 courses on half board menu always a pasta, fish dish, meat option and vegetarian option. If in the unlikely event you did not like the daily menu it was possible to substitute your dish from the a la crate menu. I can honestly say that in 10 occasions I ate there neither of us were disappointed. The options to eat on the terrace outside or in air conditioned restaurant were available. As this hotel is open to the public it was often busy with a great atmosphere. The staff are all excellent really efficient even when busy guests get first class service at all times. I will give special thanks to Giulio who served our table most nights as well as having really good wine knowledge and recommendations he was friendly with excellent English and made us laugh !wishing him well in his law career. This restaurant is a must if you find yourself in Viareggio!!Dear 123ellibob, thank you very much for your kind feedback, Giulio and alla the staff will wait for you for another experience with us!!Best regardsGiuseppe

We were driving up from Florence through Pisa and needed to get some lunch on our way to Porto Venere . First we tried to get to a restaurant in Pisa and it was difficult to get there by car as it was pouring down. To access certain places in the old town of Pisa, you need to walk quite a bit and with the heavy rain , we simply did not want to do it. So we went on our way and thought that we could eat in Viareggio which is on the way. But somehow we ended up in Lido di Camaiore without stopping in Viareggio on the SS1 (Aurelia road) and saw this little place on the roadside full of people. That is a good sign! So we parked and checked it out. It was this fish place with a tiny kitchen , full of locals. The food must be good. We had to wait for a table and then finally we got to sit down. The food was awesome. We had raw scampi (one of my favorites) seafood salad, octupus, squid ink taglierini with seafood.Everything fresh from the morning catch and well prepared and beautifully presented. I will certainly remember to stop by again.

Sadly the only two things this place has going for it are the friendly waiters and the fact that it's busy. The food however is totally not up to par figuring this should be the 5th best restaurant in town. The menu's are sticky and the whole place looks somewhat rundown. Our choice of foods were swordfish and brass. Fresh fish is very simple: you put it on the grill and deliver a tasty dish. This concept has escaped the chef however. Both dishes lacked taste completely. Also the wine menu isn't too elaborate and the wines on it are not of high quality. The housewines (we tried several in hope to find a good one) just weren't any good. Service by the boss is however very friendly and he was kind enough to bring a heater when the temperature went down during the night.

A pleasant welcome in a relaxing atmosphere of a summer garden terrace. The terrace was full so they put up an extra table under the blossoming trees. Their english is not the best but their friendliness and eagerness to please the guest combined with our 5 words of italian and the language of gestures made it all good. They took care that we got the waitress who handled us as good as possible language wise. And she was the best in every other sense as well. The muscles soup was full of taste and perfectly seasoned in its simplicity. And the black pasta with cod and shrimps was just amazing. The buffalo pizza with prossiutto crudo my friends ate was so good I wanted to come back next evening and have my own and not just a bite. So the next day I had a pizza and a pasta for first time in my life. Spaghetti with seafood was an excellent start to the pizza to follow. Millefolie with the green apple ice cream and a chees cake with a strawberry topping will not dissapoint. You kind of feel like sitting with your relatives in the garden and a distant aunt you never know of is cooking for you.Go there!
