This restaurant has been open for a couple of years now, and I never tried it because of the name and logo (too trendy....they couldn't be serious about their sushi!)...Also, I am (ahem) older and saw lots of young people flock in and out of there, so assumed it was more of a fun hangout than a serious sushi restaurant. But a police action down the road a bit blocked me from my intended destination for dinner last night, and as I doubled back, I decided to pull in and try it. I am so glad I did!The restaurant is smaller than it looks from the outside, there is a bar for about 10 and table seating for about 30.... The décor is modern, yet subdued.I was greeted quickly and my drink order was brought promptly. For such a small restaurant, I thought it took a little too long for the waiter to take my order, but he was decent after that.I ordered the dragon roll and sake nigiri....both were delicious, the salmon tasted fresh...and what really won me over was the sushi rice. I dislike stuffing a whole piece of sushi in my mouth at once, so sticky rice and good wrapping skills are key to me. I was able to 2-bite each piece of the dragon roll. I hate to write a review based on one meal, but I think this deserves to be on the map. I will go back and try it again soon...and will update this review if I think it needs updating. I want to go back to try the fried banana dessert...I was too full to try it last night.Other than the slow start on the service, I loved it. Oh, and I also peeked at the other dishes being served, and they all looked like they were lovingly made. I think they ARE serious about their sushi!

I was in the mood for sushi today, so I did a quick search round my work area and this restaurant popped up. The reviews looked promising and it seemed easy enough to get to, so I figured I would give it a try.The place is clean and well organized, but on the small side. The ceiling is high, so sound is disseminated and it's easy to hold a conversation there. The staff is attentive and very friendly. There was a clipboard hanging on the door outside- you sign your name on the waitlist and wait to be seated. I was fortunate enough to be eating alone and was seated immediately.I decided on the bento box- my mind was tired and I didn't want to have to think too hard about what to eat. I chose the tempura and a California roll. The food arrived quickly and it was fantastic! Everything was so fresh and tasty. The tempura batter was cooked perfectly and I'm pretty certain that they used real crab meat in the California roll! I only had the 2-item bento box and I was fairly well stuffed! All that for under $10!I did take a look at the rest of the menu. They had a nice selection of rolls ranging in price, but it seemed that most of their rolls were right around $6! That is dang cheap! I do feel that I owe it to myself to come back again soon and try some of their rolls just to see how fresh their fish is, but if it is anything like my meal today, I won't be disappointed!

We were a large group that had a buffet dinner in one of the private rooms. It is an interesting place with exotic interior and with a beautiful front door. The various dishes were very tasty. But I was most impressed with the servers. They were refilling our water glasses constantly, the servers were efficient and our drink ordered were quickly brought to the table. They were helpful and friendly. They worked very hard to please everybody. Good job! I plan to return and try some of the dishes on the menu.
I come here at least once a week for lunch. Their portions are great, the service is good, and it's very affordable Japanese food. There are no servers here, you just go up to the counter and take a seat. It gets pretty busy during lunch, so it's a good idea to call ahead. I love the poki bowl, and their rolls too. Ask for their Korean hot sauce!

I was staying in Hayward for two nights and felt like sushi. So I checked on a number of websites and this place came up as highly recommended on a number of reviews. From the outside it looks rather inconspicuous and nondescript. It is a rather small restaurant, which was rather crowded when I was there. Fortunately I found one spot left at the bar and enjoyed one of the best sushi meals ever for a very fair price. Regulars most probably do hate me now for posting this online as I would want to keep this secret if it was on my doorstep. However, the food is simply too good for not being enjoyed by sushi lovers around the globe.

Had early Saturday lunch here. Only had sashimi, karage, and 2 beverage. Perhaps we lucked out. The omakase sashimi was 14 pieces of good sized fish and all tender. And only $18! That is unusually good value. The karage was average. Service was fast and efficient but this was before noon.

Sushi Ichimoto is a family owned restaurant. We specialize in exquisite Japanese cuisine and providing an exceptional dinning experience to our guest. Our main focus is on the freshest sushi possible, but we do offer an assortment of traditional Japanese
We have been patrons of Ichimoto since they took over the space from Ray's. While I was sad to see Ray's go... I love the people who work at Ichimoto! They totally make the experience and make us feel like family! In addition to being open on Monday, which is often a rarity, the food is yummy and the experience is awesome!

The service here was really good, but the food was just pretty medicore. We ordered the A's and dragon rolls, which were both decent. The scallop nigiri was delicious, but the side muscle wasnt removed (not really a big deal but I noticed). The tempura wasn't very good. Portions were small and the batter they use wasn't very tasty. It was heavy textured and not what I'm used to.

I had the Bento Dinner Box with Chicken Karaage, Sashimi, Rice and a Japanese Kirin Beer! The Chicken Karaage was "off the menu" and you had to ask for it if you wanted it. It's Japanese fried chicken. Always a safe place to go for a meal when you don't want to cook. Good food and good service. They treat you as if they actually liked you! I'm always pleased at the food they put out.
