I've noticed this place for years and finally decided to try it. Its a very homey, cozy place something you expect to see in the south...You have to park across the street. Food: prices are ok, big menu selection but a little confusing for a bbq place. We went with the basics, chicken , pork ribs, bbq beans, fries, corn. The meat and sauce were ok but a little dry, Ive had better for cheaper, the sides were atrocious; they gave us unsalted fries, the bbq beans tasted like they came straight out of a can, and the corn on the cob tasted like it was frozen and boiled. Even the lemonade tasted store bought. The table we sat at was a little sticky to the touch, but the wait staff was nice and friendly. How this place survived all this time Im not sure..I will not be returning, sorry I had high hopes for this place.

Visited here for lunch on a weekday. Place was pretty crowded. Very rustic inside, trying to make ya feel like you're in a shack somewhere down South I imagine. Friendly staff. Very attentive. Prices are typical to most BBQ places. I ordered Combo with brisket and pulled pork which comes with two sides and either biscuit, cornbread or hush puppies. I got hush puppies, mac n' cheese and collard greens. The food was all pretty good. The brisket and pulled pork were decent but seemed to be lacking a little in real smoky flavor. Sweet tea was very good and the offer to get a refill "to go" at the end of the meal certainly rings try to how it's done down south. Not a bad option for BBQ but there are better places a little closer to Los Angeles.

Good BBQ, some unusual dishes offered. Servings were very generous in size. They have take out and sell their sauce.

5 of us drove to Bellflower to try two different BBQ Joints for lunch......both turned out Baaaaad!!!Hambone's smells like good BBQ...they have the smokers going... but.....you gotta produce good food also!!!We split up a combo plate, a brisket sandwich & some ribs. The ribs (were burnt and overcooked) and brisket were soaking in a very watery BBQ sauce for what tasted like a couple days. The sandwich brisket was pulled & stringy. The peach cobbler tasted very strongly of too much cinnamon & some other spice!!!We took about half home hoping to rejuvenate it later...we ended up throwing it all away!!!

I read about this in a local paper last night, and went right over today. I like ribs and brisket, so the nice young man at the window showed me the lunch specials menu, which offered a 2-meat plate and a side of baked beans. I also added a small mac and cheese, small potato salad, and their acclaimed dessert, The Golden Nugget. The total was $15.26. Although that was a reasonable price for what I had, it was still alot to spend for lunch--but well worth it.I ate dessert first. Their specialty, The Golden Nugget, is warm cornbread with banana pudding. What a great idea to combine hot and cold foods this way, and a perfect marriage of flavors. The pudding was rich and creamy, the best texture I've had. It didn't have pieces of banana in it, but not a problem. I think it was whipped, so that would not have allowed for pieces. Next time I will NOT get the small order! On Sundays they have strawberry peach cobbler--I'm not sure if that's both fruits together, or two separate kinds of cobblers. The rib was nicely cooked, tender and tasty. The bbq sauce came on the side, so I was able to taste the rib by itself first, and it passed my test. The brisket was not as good as the rib. Next time I will get a rib and a hot link. The mac and cheese was delicious. I tasted something like cayenne, which gave it a nice kick, and the cheese was just the right gooeyness. Again, no small size next time. The potato salad was too creamy for me, I like cubes of potatoes with little pieces of celery and hopefully some hard-boiled eggs. Next time I will try the cole slaw, or greens. To be honest I have to say that Bludso's in Compton has better ribs, but it is farther away. I would not hesitate to come to Robert Earl's again, and again. :-)That info was about the food, now here is info about the restaurant. It's one building down from the corner of Artesia and Lime. There is street parking in front (all taken this Saturday afternoon), as well as parking in the back. You can pull into their lot, but I didn't want to navigate the opening in the chain link fence. There are also about 3 spaces behind the building that's on the corner, but I didn't notice whether the business was open, so didn't want to park there. I found a spot not far down the street on Lime. You order from a window inside. That is in their address of 703. Then you walk through a door (see my photo) into the dining room, which used to be the address of 705. There are a few tables for 2, a few tables for 4, and a long communal table. I counted 26 seats. As the afternoon progressed, so many people came that they brought out 2 more small tables. When your number is called, you pick up your order from a different window in the main room. The people who work here are very pleasant and friendly. I could see from my receipt that Robert Jr. had taken my order. He spent a long time helping me navigate the menu, and never made me feel feel rushed at all, even though the line behind me had gotten pretty long. I am happy I learned about this local gem.
Soul Food Renaissance (formerly LBJ's Fine Foods) got started back in 1993 by migrants from the great state of Texas. The vibe here is a folksy and friendly one. Our specialties are fresh fish, Texas style BBQ, and authentic soul food.
My husband and I went to the Soul Food Renaissance restaurant after church. This was our first time going there. We had eaten the food before at a crew and actors lunch catered by this restaurant. The food was so good we had to go to the restaurant. We were not disappointed. From the time we walked in it was friendly, warm, cozy, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious!! The soul food taste like home made. There is a huge variety from which to choose from. No need to add salt or pepper. Fresh lemonade is provided, or you a get sweet tea. The dinner plate has enough food for two servings. We could not eat everything in one sitting. We took food home with desert.

A restaurant where everything on the menu is excellent. I go here very often. This last time I ate the smoked brisket sandwich (chopped, not sliced) and a jar of Swamp Water (Arnold Palmer, at other places). The jar is a large Mason jar. Slaw was the side of choice. Absolutely delicious. There is an outdoor eating area; if the weather is nice (which is most of the year) eat there!
Where to eat Pizza food in Paramount: The Best Restaurants and Bars

While I love this place for their pizza and wings, their lack of acknowledgment when a customer walks in is next to zil.. If no one is at the podium to take your name, which has been the case in almost 90% of the time, you are left to stand there like an idiot waiting to be acknowledged. In more than 4 occasions customers have walked out being that they'd been waiting over 8 minutes and still had not been even looked at. A simple "I'LL BE RIGHT WITH YOU" would do if you are short staffed which also seems to be the reason for the slow acknowledgment. After a while it becomes less of an acceptable excuse. Umm get more people to work the dining area and have a host present.
